Flying V’s Awesome-A-Thon is back with 24 straight hours of Flying V themed programming!
Flying V’s third annual 24-hour festival and fundraiser is scheduled to run from 10pm, Saturday April 13th through 10pm, Sunday April 14th at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Building. The event features original performances and staged readings, explosive stage combat, adorably erotic superhero stories, an early morning clown parade, live podcasts, a game lounge, a silent auction, a full bar, and so much more! Join your friendly neighborhood indie theater in celebrating a year of expansion and new creative outlets – from podcasts to professional wrestling. Stay for one event or the entire time! Admission is PAY WHAT YOU CAN for the entire day, and all proceeds go to support Flying V’s 2019 programming!

With great power, comes great sex. It’s the Marvel Universe like
you’ve never experienced before. Leave the kids at home and grab
a drink for some erotic tales of the X-Men, Avengers, and more! “Spiderman I never knew you were so…flexible!”

A time to relax and rewind with a warm beverage and some late
night performances from singer/songwrighter/magician Zia Hassan, Comedian Farrell Parker, and The Rustic Riot. Grab some caffeine as the night is just getting started.

Come ready for battle and bring your favorite dice and #2 pencils! Dungeon Masters Nerissa Sarah Hart and Scott S Turner take you away to fantasy worlds to role play against goliaths, dwarves and more!
*2am – Flying V Fights: Combat Gym Presents: LATE NIGHT MONSTERFIGHT
The Flying V Fights: Combat Gym team teaches you how to fight like a monster, use found weapons, and create choreography to defend yourself from horrible nightmare beasts!

reset button and take a moment to breathe, find your center and

DO YOU LOVE A PARADE?! Lucky for you, Company Member
Madeline Key will be hitting the streets with an intrepid band of
people! Come get dressed up in costumes, grab a musical
instrument, get some fresh air & journey around the block!
*8am – SMASH BROTHERS TOURNAMENT
SMASH, BASH, and CRASH as Mario, Kirby, Link, and
more join the royal rumble of video game battles in a tournament
for the ages!
*9am – SATURDAY MORNING CARTOONS LIVE (On a Sunday)
Grab a bowl of cereal and milk, take a seat next to your kids as we
present live action readings of 3 of your favorite cartoons. First up
Batman: The Animated Series; then, Kim Possible; and, finally we
finish off with 2 episodes of The Powerpuff Girls!
*10:30am – PARK BENCH
The French Graphic Novel PARK BENCH is brought to the stage with music and movement in this Workshop Performance by Ruben Vellekoop. A man sits for lunch, addicts perform drug deals, and the homeless sleep, all on a single park bench.
*10:30am – THUNDERBIRDS! THE GAME
Flying V Advisory Board member Pete Miller will teach everyone a favorite board game of his, based on the 70’s Saturday morning TV show, THUNDERBIRDS!
*11am – PAPERLESS PULP LAUNCH & LISTENING PARTY
Flying V is getting into the fictional Podcast game, and we want you
to join us as we launch our first series, PAPERLESS PULP. Listen to our first batch of episodes and hear from the creators!
*12pm – THE ORIGINAL CAST LIVE – MUSICALS BASED ON COMICS
Join host Patrick Flynn and guests Kari Ginsburg, Don Mike
Mendoza & Anna Grace Nowalk with Heather Hurley accompanying and special guest Chris Klimek as they discuss and sing songs from some of your favorite musicals based on comics!
*12pm – MAGIC: THE GATHERING DRAFT
Planeswalkers, Dragons, Demons and more. Come draft the newest set of Magic: The Gathering!
*1pm – THE BIG GOLD BELT PODCAST
A panel of experts and professional wrestlers will be talking about
the intersection of theater and professional wrestling and what it is like to be an up and coming indie wrestler hosted by The Big Gold Belt Podcast!
*3pm – SUCKER
What do a vegan vampire, a disillusioned dungeon master, and an atheist rabbi have in common? When a whimsical tragedy crushes a small town (literally), this band of misfits will forever be changed…find out in a staged reading of Canadian playwright Kat Sandler’s epic play.
*5pm – COLD EQUATIONS
The future is here and space travel is real. A man is sent on a
mission to deliver supplies to a mining planet, but surprises abound
as he must make hard decisions to stay on the course or let go of his ethics in this adaptation by “We’re Gonna Die” bassist Jason Wilson.

Batman vs Mary Poppins, Wonder Woman vs Maximus, and more!
Have you ever wondered who would win when your favorite
fictions come to life? We have! Come see them battle it out to find
out who is best in our own NERDFIGHT TOURNAMENT! (Card Subject to Change)

Dating is hard, even harder coming back to a city you used to live in. Come see a new work in process as company member Michelle Polera tests out material from her one woman show she is creating
with fellow company member Patrick Flynn.
*8pm – Flying V Does Batman Forever, A Staged Reading
Riddle me this…what happens when you mix Flying V with the 1995
classic Joel Schumacher film BATMAN FOREVER? You will have to
join us to find out as we put our spin on this two faced bat classic! Directed by Associate AD Lee Liebeskind.
