A Dose Of Colemanism: Comparison To Others

December 3, 2021

By Caprice Coleman

This past weekend I was a special guest on a live edition of “Busted Open” radio at WrestleCade in Winston-Salem, N.C I was invited on the show by Mark Henry before the event.

I honestly didn’t know how it was going to happen, but I was thoroughly excited.

On the day of the show, I received confirmation of the time and location. I met with Mark earlier and we chatted a little bit beforehand.

On the way up to the show, I received word that Matt Hardy and Danhausen also were  guests.

I became excited and nervous at the same time. Excited because I know both of these guys, and nervous because I was feeling intimidated. Learning that I’d be following these two guys started making me feel inadequate.

Questions and doubts started to swirl in my mind: Who am I really? What are the fans going to think? I should have gone first because the fans are going to be bored with me.

I intently watched Matt and Danhausen and was thoroughly entertained. Even with my nerves, I was able to enjoy their segments.

However, it only added to my nervousness. How can I follow this?

The time came for me to come on stage for my interview. I was greeted with applause, and the interview was tremendous, with great participation from the crowd. I also l gained a friend in Mark Henry.

I learned a lot about myself up there on the stage.

It’s easy to compare yourself to other people and feel inferior. You just have to realize that others aren’t viewing you that way.

It’s dangerous to compare.

You have values and qualities that are unique. Others may have similar values and qualities, but yours can’t be duplicated.

Your stamp is as unique as your fingerprint. Comparing yourself to others is a selfish game that only feels good if you “win.”

When people ask you to be you that’s what they want, not an imitation of someone else. You were created with a purpose.

There is no one like you.

Just something to think about. I call it a dose of Colemanism.
