A Dose Of Colemanism: Desired Destinations

September 23, 2021

By Caprice Coleman

Imagine hearing about a place where you’d want to be. It sounds like there is no other place on earth that fits you more. The interest grows the more you hear about it.

There are times you imagine yourself already there. Isn’t it great? Things are viewed differently from this place. Thoughts are clearer. Needs are met here. It’s enough to make you want to go.

Information is gathered on how to get there. It’s not easy, but you’re up for the task. This is where you want to be. The decision is made: “I’m going.”
Now you’re on the way to your desired destination. At first it’s smooth sailing, but as the trip progresses, the journey is turning out to be more difficult than expected. Still, there’s a will inside of you to press on.

Eventually you realize that getting to this place is a task you’re not prepared for. Disappointment and doubt set in: “Do I even want this anymore?”

It’s amazing how this doubt somehow turns into fear. From wanting it, to “can I do it?” to “is it even worth it?”

I want to let you know that it is. It’s more than worth it and you are worth everything it takes to get to it. Fear of the unknown is a self-inflicted wound.

You’ve imagined yourself there and what will happen when you arrive. It’s worth the work. Don’t quit. Continue to move forward.

Just something to think about. I call it a dose of Colemanism.
