A Dose Of Colemanism: Through The Storm

October 7, 2021

By Caprice Coleman

While driving in from an out-of-town trip one day it started to rain heavily. It was the type of rain that had people pulling over on the side of the road and under bridges to wait it out.

They chose to pull over out of concern for their safety, which is understandable. I’m the type of driver that as long as I can see the road in front of me I can keep going. Soon, I had driven through the storm.

I thought about the ones who pulled over and wondered how long they were on the side of the road compared to the time it took me to drive through the storm. What I remember most is that eventually we all got through the storm.

Storms are natural in nature and life. They come and have the potential to cause harm. It’s severity can sometimes make you pull over, reset, and in some cases assess the damages. It’s also true that the storm doesn’t last forever.

Some choose to take the risk and keep moving, while others may sacrifice time to make sure it’s passed. Either way, it doesn’t last forever.

The goal is to stay on course, don’t give up, or turn around. When you get to the other side of the storm, take in the accomplishment and be willing to tell others heading in the same direction how to prepare for it.

Just something to think about. I call it a dose of Colemanism.
