Eck’s Files: Pure Wrestlers Past, Present And Future Accept Violence Unlimited’s Challenge; World Tag Title Match Set for TV; Danhausen Co-Hosting Beyond The Belles

,By Kevin Eck Violence Unlimited’s open challenge to face any Pure wrestlers past, present or future in a six-man tag match at the Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view on Sept. 12 in Philadelphia’s 2300 Arena has been answered. Three Pure wrestlers — one from the past, one from the present and one who is considered part of the future — wasted no time in stepping up to face Tony Deppen and ROH World Tag Team Champions Chris Dickinson and Homicide. The identity of the Pure wrestlers will be revealed on the next episode of ROH Week By Week, which premieres Tuesday at 1 p.m. Eastern on YouTube. Dickinson laid down the challenge at Glory By Honor Night 2 in Philadelphia last weekend after he, Brody King, Deppen and Homicide lost an eight-man tag match to The Foundation (Pure Champion Jonathan Gresham, Jay Lethal, Tracy Williams and Rhett Titus) and then attacked them afterward.   WHO WANTS NEXT?! #GLORYBYHONOR pic.twitter.com/SJszur5Qud — ROH Wrestling (@ringofhonor) August 22, 2021 *** Speaking of Dickinson and Homicide, they will put the tag team belts on the line against former champions Dragon Lee and Kenny King of La Faccion Ingobernable on Ring of Honor Wrestling the weekend of Sept. 11. Lee and King won the title from Lethal and Gresham in February. At the 19th Anniversary show in March, King and Bestia del Ring (substituting for the injured Lee) lost the title to Williams and Titus. Dickinson and Homicide defeated Titus and Gresham (substituting for the injured Williams) for the title at Best in the World last month. La Faccion Ingobernable also has a big match on Ring of Honor Wrestling the weekend of Sept. 4, as RUSH, Lee, King and Bestia face Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor, Moses and Kaun of Soldiers of Savagery and O’Shay Edwards) in an eight-man tag bout. This will be the first time Taylor has been in the ring with his former friend, King, since King hit Taylor with a chair and cost him his ROH World Title Match against then-champion RUSH in February. Taylor gave King a small sample of what’s in store for him when he jumped King in the aisle after La Faccion Ingobernable’s match against Violence Unlimited at Glory By Honor Night 1 last weekend. As previously announced, STP (Taylor, Moses and Kaun) will defend the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Title against LFI (RUSH, Lee and King) at Death Before Dishonor. *** Danhausen will be the special co-host on the next episode of Beyond The Belles, which premieres on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Eastern on YouTube. It undoubtedly will be very entertaining to hear the very nice, very evil one’s take on the ROH Women’s World Title Tournament. I just had a thought: What if tag team partners Danhausen and PCO joined forces with Max The Impaler and went after the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Title? Talk about a horror triple feature. *** Beyond The Belles host Alyssa Marino was my guest on the latest episode of the ROHStrong Podcast, which drops Monday morning on ROHWrestling.com and most podcast platforms. Plus, she displays her opera-singing talent! *** The ROH Women’s World Title Tournament quarterfinal round concludes on this weekend’s episode of Ring of Honor Wrestling, as Max The Impaler faces Angelina Love, and Allysin Kay takes on Trish Adora. Alize scored the biggest upset of the tournament thus far when she knocked off former Shimmer Champion Nicole Savoy last weekend. *** Dalton Castle will face World Famous CB on ROH Week By Week on Tuesday. Castle undoubtedly will be looking to score a quick victory. You know, because he’s busy. CB is no pushover, though, and is capable of pulling the upset if Castle is foolish enough to take him lightly. *** Reminder: Death Before Dishonor tickets went on sale this morning for HonorClub members, who will receive a 50 percent discount (use code HCDBD. The show is headlined by a four-way match for the ROH World Title between champion Bandido, Brody King, EC3 and Demonic Flamita. Also, Gresham defends the Pure Title against Josh Woods, and the finals of the ROH Women’s World Title Tournament will take place. *** Before wrapping up this week’s column I have to weigh in on The Last Stand, the steel cage match between Matt Taven and Vincent that headlined Glory By Honor Night 2. The bloody war between the former friends took fans on an emotional rollercoaster ride and was one of the best cage matches I’ve seen in some time. I have to admit I was shocked that Vincent prevailed over the former ROH World Champion, but perhaps I shouldn’t have been. The Righteous leader silenced all of his doubters once and for all with a career-defining victory. Vincent obtained Taven’s ROH World Title shot as a result of his win. Even though it was a tough loss for him, I fully believe he will come back from it and be better than ever.
