Emerging Black Actresses Who Are Dominating Hollywood in 2025

As Women’s History Month approaches, it provides an opportunity to celebrate the incredible talent of the emerging Black actresses shaping Hollywood’s future in 2025 

These stars are not only, taking the lead in blockbuster films and earning critical acclaim for their performances. But their presence on screen is redefining the industry, proving that representation is not just evolving—it’s thriving

 

Let’s check out some of these standout actresses making waves!

Betty Gabriel

Gaining significant attention for her role as Georgina in the critically acclaimed thriller Get Out (2017) showcasing her ability to convey subtle terror. Following Get Out, Gabriel’s career continued to flourish with roles in Upgrade (2018), and Clickbait (2021).

Gabriel will also star in the upcoming film  NOVOCAINE, and continues pushing boundaries with nuanced roles in film and television.

 

Dominique Fishback

This Emmy-nominated actress has quickly established herself as one of Hollywood’s most exciting and versatile young talents. Fishback’s breakout performance came in Judas and the Black Messiah (2021), where she played Deborah Johnson, the girlfriend and partner of Illinois Black Panther Party chairman  Fred Hampton (played by Daniel Kaluuya).

Fishback also starred popular show SWARM (2023) as  Dre, a fan spiraling into obsession that turns dark over a pop star, and earning an Emmy nomination for her performance.

 

 

Ayo Edebiri 

A breakout force, winning awards and praise for her comedic and dramatic versatility in The Bear (2022) Where she plays Sydeny Adamu an ambitious young chef who joins a chaotic kitchen in a Chicago restaurant.
 
This series is known for its intense fast-paced drama of the restaurant industry. This showcases her ability to balance humor and the emotional demands of the character. 
 

Coco Jones

This multi-talented actress has successfully transitioned from music with hits like What I Didn’t Tell you and & ICU which charted the Billboard Hot 100 at number 63.  
 
To leading roles in television and film such as the the reimagining of the beloved 90’s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air .
 
Bel-Air is a dramatic modern-day retelling of the comedy series, and Coco Jones plays one of the fan favorites of the original series Hillary Banks.  Bel-Air will be returning for Season 4 possibly in the summer or fall of 2025
 
Storm Reid 
 
This young powerhouse is continuously securing leading roles in major productions such as Euphoria (2019) Even though she will not be returning in season 3 of the series, her role of Gia Bennett is still a stand-out performance. Her range as a actress landed her other role in the popular HBO series Last of Us (2023)  along with Don’t Let Go (2019) and the list goes on.
 

Lex Scott Davis

Known for her versatility in action, drama, and romance genres, but is currently mostly known for her recent projects such as Ricky Stanicky (2024) a comedy that follows a group of friends who hire an actor (played by John Cena) to impersonate a fictional character named “Ricky Stanicky” to cover up their misdeeds.

Another major upcoming project for Lex Scott Davis is the much-anticipated TV series Suits LA (2025), a spinoff of the popular legal drama Suits. This series will transport the Suits universe from New York to Los Angeles, and Davis is set to play a central role in the drama.
