At FULL GEAR 2021 this past Saturday night, Tony Schiavone introduced the world to All Elite Wrestling’s newest acquisition: Jay Lethal! Lethal emerged onto the AEW stage to a resounding ovation from the fans inside the Target Center, and was quick to make a challenge towards the TNT Title held by “The Spanish God” Sammy Guevara. The fans in Minneapolis were more than intrigued by the prospect of this championship match, clearly aware of the pedigree Lethal brings to AEW, but for those unaware, just who is Jay Lethal?
Lethal will be celebrating his 20th anniversary in professional wrestling on December 7th after training at the Jersey All Pro Wrestling School, as well as under the tutelage of ECW Alumni Mikey Whipwreck and Dan Maff. Over the course of his two decades inside the squared circle Lethal has amassed 20 different championships, fought in a hundred different companies around thte world, and competed in the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, Germany, Israel, and Australia against the likes of Christopher Daniels, CM Punk, “The Notorious 187” Homicide, Sting, Frankie Kazarian, Jerry Lynn, Matt Hardy, The Young Bucks, and Kenny Omega.
Jay Lethal brings to AEW a resume that rivals the most elite competitors in the locker room, and represents a threat to any title holder on the roster. Be it the TNT Title he has challenged Sammy Guevara over, the World Title just won by “Hangman” Adam Page, or even the tag titles should Lethal ever pick himself up a partner, every champion should be wary of the lethal injection All Elite Wrestling just received!
