The Wednesday Night Wars between AEW and NXT met a fitting end more than a year and a half since its inception back in 2019. NXT moved to Tuesdays while AEW Dynamite remained on Wednesdays.
WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross spoke to Jimmy Varsallone, where he discussed NXT’s move to Tuesdays. Ross said that the reason NXT was moved from Wednesday was due to the fact that they kept on getting beat by AEW every week.
“It was obvious, WWE goes on Wednesdays, head-to-head with us, in hopes it would hurt our growth. It didn’t happen. They probably got tired of getting their ass beat every week. They have a lot of stroke with USA, so they made a move.
It helped them and they have more viewers, we have more viewers, and fans don’t have to make a decision. If it’s fan-friendly, it’s a good move. We have to protect our greatest assets (the fans).”
We will have to wait and see how both companies will improve their respective shows.
