Louisiana Boxing and Wrestling Commission Issues Restrictions for Wrestlemania Week Events

February 22, 2018
John Pollock of Post Wrestling is reporting the Louisiana Boxing & Wrestling Commission is banning blood and piledrivers, and enforcing a number of protocols in regards to wrestling events during Wrestlemania week in New Orleans. These restrictions will also apply for WWE’s WrestleMania 34 pay-per-view event on April 8th in the New Orleans Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Pollock spoke with the LBWC’s Russell Naquin, and noted the following:

  • Blood and piledrivers are prohibited on all events in the state. Piledrivers are banned due to a prior talent injury
  • Promoters are required to have some kind of license to promote, but it was noted that Louisiana does allow existing promoters to loan licenses out
  • Every wrestler has to purchase a $25 license to work in the state
  • Promotions are required to have all performers get blood work and screening to show they are negative for:
    • HIV
    • Hepatitis B
    • Hepatitis C
  • The promotion must present paperwork the day of the show to prove talent has required bloodwork
  • Talent will be subjected to ringside physical on the day of the event at the venue. LBWC will provide an official at each show, in addition to an EMT

It has been clear if this limited to the traditional style only or if other variations such as the Undertaker’s Tombstone Piledriver is also banned.
