Allysin Kay is no stranger to gold.

The 12-year veteran has won championships in several promotions and wrestled all over the world. Now she has set her sights on winning the ROH Women’s World Title Tournament this summer.

Kay was presented with a “ticket to gold” to compete in the tournament from ROH Board of Directors Maria Kanellis-Bennett on a Zoom call following this week’s Women’s Division Wednesday match.

Kanellis-Bennett explained that unlike other competitors who had to compete in tryout matches to earn a “ticket to gold,” Kay’s “work speaks for itself.” Kanellis-Bennett and Kay worked together closely in the past in Impact Wrestling.

Well versed in MMA and Catch wrestling, Kay is a two-time former holder of the Impact Wrestling Knockouts Title and has also held the NWA Women’s World Title, GFW Women’s Title and Shine Title (twice). She holds victories over top stars such as Gail Kim, Mercedes Martinez and Tessa Blanchard, to name just a few.

Kay has made a few appearances in ROH over the years, including on a live event in 2019 in which she successfully defended the NWA Women’s World Title.

“This tournament is a perfect fit for me,” Kay said. “I never really got to sink my teeth into ROH. I’ve been there a couple times but it’s just been one-off appearances and I feel like we can really show that women can go, and I feel like ROH is a perfect platform for that, so I’m very excited for this tournament.”

Kay joins Rok-C, Miranda Alize and Trish Adora as “ticket to gold” recipients. Angelina Love earned a first-round bye in the tournament as a result of her recent win over Quinn McKay.
