Possible Reason For Short Duration Of Rey Mysterio’s Wrestlemania Match

Rey Mysterio had his first Wrestlemania match in years last night, but it was very short. He lost to Samoa Joe at the event after Joe applied the Coquina Clutch.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the short length of Rey’s match. After mentioning about Mysterio’s injury, it was proposed that Samoa Joe use the Clutch on Mysterio quickly because he was unable to work a longer match.

This is certainly unfortunate considering Mysterio said on the WWE Hall Of Fame red carpet said that his ankle was 90% and he hoped it would have been fully recovered by the time WrestleMania came. However, the result of the US Title match speaks for itself.

At the very least Samoa Joe was booked to be a monster in the match.
