ROH TV Preview: Dalton Castle Challenges Dragon Lee For ROH World Television Title

November 17, 2021

Here’s a preview of this weekend’s episode of “Ring of Honor Wrestling:”

ROH World Television Title Match: Champion Dragon Lee vs. Dalton Castle

Castle has been very busy, but he’s also been on a roll. The former ROH World Champion has won his past five one-on-one matches and is now the No. 1 contender for the ROH World Television Title.

Castle and Lee have only faced each other once before, with Castle prevailing at Best in the World in 2019.

It was a rare singles defeat for Lee in ROH. The two-time ROH World Television Champion hasn’t been defeated in a one-on-one match in ROH since February 2020, against then-ROH World Champion PCO.

Lee and Kenny King just lost the ROH World Tag Team Title to The OGK at Honor for All, so Lee undoubtedly will pull out all the stops to hold on to his championship.

However, Castle also has shown that he too will do whatever it takes to win, and he has not had gold around his waist since his ROH World Title reign ended in June 2018.

Triple Threat Contenders Match: Trish Adora vs. Allysin Kay vs. Mandy Leon

The winner of this match will face Willow on Ring of Honor Wrestling the weekend of Dec. 4 for the right to challenge ROH Women’s World Champion Rok-C at Final Battle on Dec. 11. Willow won a Triple Threat Contenders Match last month.

Adora made it to the semifinals of the ROH Women’s Title Tournament by scoring victories over Kay and Marti Belle. Adora, the reigning Pan-Afrikan World Diaspora Wrestling Champion, has also defeated former Women of Honor World Champion Sumie Sakai.

Kay has the edge in experience over Adora and Leon and a championship pedigree. She is a two-time former Impact Knockouts Champion and a former NWA Women’s Champion. Kay is currently a co-holder of the NWA Women’s Tag Team Title with Belle.

Leon is a pioneer in the ROH women’s division who has defeated top stars such as Io Shari, Britt Baker, Deonna Purrazzo, Toni Storm, Jordynne Grace, Madison Rayne and Sakai.

Pure Rules Match: Brian Johnson vs. John Walters

It’ll be Pure Past versus Pure Present when former Pure Champion Walters meets Johnson, the current No. 1 contender in the Pure division.

For Walters, this is an opportunity for him to break into the rankings. For Johnson, a win would cement his status as the top contender, while a loss would knock him out of the No. 1 spot.

Walters, who held the Pure Title for 189 days in 2004-2005, has shown in his handful of ROH matches during the past year that he is still at the top of his game.

Johnson made an immediate impact in the Pure division when he won a Pure Rules Gauntlet a couple months ago. The following week, “The Mecca” scored an impressive win over his mentor, PJ Back, in a Pure Rules Match.
