Survival of the Fittest Qualifying Match: Brian Johnson vs.Sledge
(20-minute time limit)

As Sledge stood on the middle rope during his entrance, Johnson clipped his left knee and hit a draping DDT from the top rope. A dazed Sledge clutched his knee in obvious pain.

After the bell rang to start the match, Johnson went for a sucide dive, but Sledge caught him and tossed him into the barricade. On the dive, Johnson’s head hit Sledge above his right eye, opening a gash. Sledge rammed Johnson into the barricade again and slammed him sternum-first on the apron twice. Sledge then hip-tossed Johnson on the floor. Sledge went for a leg drop on the apron, but Johnson moved out of the way. Johnson did another suicide dive and this time he connected.

Johnson rammed Sledge’s injured knee into the post and applied a figure-four leglock around the post. Johnson hit a clothesline off the top rope followed by a running clothesline for a two count. Sledge answered with two running clotheslines in the corner and a suplex. Sledge hit the UshiGoroshi but he did so on his bad knee. The pain caused Sledge to hesitate before making the cover, which allowed Johnson to kick out at two. Sledge hit a Blue Thunder Bomb for a near fall.

A reeling Johnson called called Sledge a “stupid addict” and spit on him. An enraged Sledge unloaded a series of forearms to Johnson’s face. Johnson was out on his feet, but Sledge held him up. Sledge connected on a discus punch, knocking Johnson down. When Johnson fell, he unknowingly clipped Sledge’s injured knee and landed on top of it. As Sledge writhed in pain, Johnson regained consciousness and rolled him up for the win in 11:05.

Johnson joins Demonic Flamita as the first two Survival of the Fittest finalists. After the match, P.J. Black returned and applauded his victorious protege. Black, who has been out with an injury, offered a congratulatory handshake, but Johnson walked away from him.
