This Saturday’s Ring Of Honor Final Battle event will mark the end of an era for the company.
Back in October the company announced that after Final Battle, Ring of Honor would be going on a hiatus and would not be re-signing any of the talents that are currently under contract. The news came as a surprise to both fans as well as talent, and the future’s of all involved are now up in the air.
But, it now looks like ROH will be receiving some help from AEW and Tony Kahn for its upcoming Final Battle event this weekend.
Tony Khan was a guest on Busted Open Radio earlier today, during the interview Final Battle and ROH’s planned hiatus came up. Host Dave Lagreca compared the way things are in wrestling right now to NFL free agency and how fans expect AEW to pick up talent when they are available.
Khan went on to wish ROH well and noted that he would be lending some support at Final Battle.
“Absolutely. I do want to wish those folks with Ring Of Honor the best. I’ll be doing some things to support them in this last show to make it a good show for them. [Working partnerships] is what AEW is all about [inaudible], so I am wishing them the best tomorrow and tonight, I think you’re going to see some of the best wrestling that you’re ever going to get on a Friday night. We’ve packed so much great stuff into one hour on Rampage, and then we’ll be really focused ahead towards Winter Is Coming, but yeah, over the weekend I am going to lend some support to them and try and help them out because it’s the right thing to do.”
A writer for ROH has already teased a few surprises for the show, so who knows who we will see show up as many talents in AEW have a history with ROH.
It will be interesting to see what happens after the news broke yesterday that ROH’s world Champion Bandido has tested positive for covid and would not be present for the event.
