NXT UK will usher in a new era, as a thrilling tournament will determine the next NXT UK Champion! The eight-man extravaganza will kick off today and feature Wolfgang and Trent Seven battling in one quarterfinal clash, while Oliver Carter and Charlie Dempsey will lock horns in the other.
Seven hasn’t been shy about touting his own greatness ever since his shocking betrayal and savage attack of longtime friend Bate, and The Don has a chance to back up his words and take his first step toward the vacant NXT UK Title when he collides with Wolfgang.
Since brutalizing Bate, Seven has claimed a pair of singles wins against Tate Mayfairs and Sam Gradwell, defeating the latter with a merciless kick below the belt.
He’ll look to back up his bluster against Wolfgang, who came within an eyelash of becoming NXT UK Champion two weeks ago when he challenged Ilja Dragunov in a barnburner. Dragunov subsequently relinquished the title last week due to an injury.
And in the other quarterfinal collision, Carter begins his journey for singles gold after he and Ashton Smith were forced to forfeit the NXT UK Tag Team Titles due to an injury to Smith.
