Women’s Division Wednesday Recap: Allysin Kay Outlasts Willow In Women’s World Title Tournament First-Round Bout

Host Alyssa Marino and a panel consisting of ROH Board of Directors member Maria Kanellis-Bennett, veteran star LuFisto, and competitors Chelsea Green, Nicole Savoy and Alex Gracia discussed the results of the ROH Women’s World Title Tournament thus far and previewed some of the matches still to come.

Willow vs. Allysin Kay
(20-minute time limit)

Willow did a cartwheel and nailed Kay with a superkick. Willow followed with a series of back elbows to the face in the corner, and then she hit a back splash for a two count. Kay hit a running forearm that knocked Willow off the apron. Kay assaulted Willow on the floor and then threw her into the ring and scored a two count. Willow rallied with a hard slap to the face followed by two clotheslines, a spinebuster and a missile dropkick for a near fall.

Kay locked on a sleeper hold, but Willow propelled herself backwards, landing with all her weight on top of Kay for a near fall. Willow hit a cannonball in the corner, but came up empty on a moonsault. Kay nailed Willow with a discus lariat, but Willow rolled to the floor to avoid being pinned. After getting back into the ring, Willow caught Kay with an inside cradle for a near fall. Willow hit a spinning heel kick and hoisted Kay onto her shoulders to set up for the Bae Breaker, but Kay slipped out and applied a Kimura Lock. Willow quickly tapped out at the 11:29 mark.

Kay advances to the quarterfinals, where she will meet the winner of this weekend’s match between Marti Belle and Trish Adora.
