WWE May Be Dropping Their “Daddy’s Girl” Character

November 28, 2021

On the most recent edition of NXT 2.0, a vignette was shown for TIffany Stratton. She was portrayed as a spoiled and rich “daddy’s girl.” She was playing tennis and her face was never shown. It seems that this version of the character may never make it on air because it could be dropped.

On Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez reported that they might be backing away from the gimmick. Bryan said, “I don’t know if it’s because of me okay, I’m not gonna take credit for this. But I couldn’t help but hear within the last few hours that they may now be backing away from this daddy’s girl character so we’ll see. I’m not sure how many vignettes they’ve already shot but if she’s no longer talking about ‘daddy’ then you’ll know why. You heard it here first.” (h/t to WrestlingNews.co)

Like many analysts, Bryan was uneasy by the idea of WWE having older men on creative who were the ones to come up with the “daddy’s girl” gimmick. It is also important to mention that the segment with Tiffany only showed her body, seemingly a direct example of how the male gaze works. WWE has been working to angle the NXT 2.0 show towards a younger audience, as the audience has primarily been older men.

Stratton has already wrestled on 205 Live. She defeated Amari Miller in her debut match. She is a former gymnast, bodybuilder and CrossFit athlete. She was apart of the 2016 U.S. national gymnastics team.
