AEW DYNAMITE Preview for June 3, 2020

June 2, 2020

,Last week was a chaotic and exciting one in the aftermath of “Double or Nothing”! Fans witnessed Kip Sabian and Jimmy Havoc earn a shot at the World Tag Team Titles by beating SCU, and Jungle Boy win a Battle Royale for an opportunity to be the first challenger for Cody’s TNT Championship! Speaking of Cody, he also announced to the world that he would have a standing open challenge for that title each and every week, and it would be open to absolutely anyone who wanted an opportunity. “Le Champion” Chris Jericho also chose The Inner Circle Pep Rally last week as his moment to call out “Iron” Mike Tyson to settle a long-standing grudge the former AEW World Champion has been holding onto for a decade.

,We also got a look at Brian Cage, the man who will get a World Title opportunity at “Fyter Fest”, in his first singles match under the AEW banner, and we will get another one this week. So with Cage in action, both of those aforementioned title bouts, and much more going down this Wednesday night on “Dynamite”, it will be another can’t miss evening of the greatest wrestling available today! It all kicks off 8pm EST/7pm CST right on TNT, or on AEWPlus.com for our International audience!

,,TNT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

,,Cody (c) vs. Jungle Boy

,It wasn’t that long ago that Jungle Boy stepped into the ring with then-World Champion Chris Jericho to accept a Ten Minute Challenge with “Le Champion”. That night Jack Perry went the distance with Jericho, in his very first singles matches in All Elite Wrestling, and showed the world his rich potential.

,Since that fight, Jungle Boy’s singles matches have been limited, two losses to MJF (including an amazing clash at “Double or Nothing”) and a victory over Peter Avalon on the March 26th edition of “AEW DARK”. Then, one night later on “Dynamite”, after eliminating MJF and Orange Cassidy in the Battle Royale, Jungle Boy put himself in position for the biggest one-on-one battle of his career with a huge prize on the line in the form of the TNT Championship!

,That same night, just prior to the Battle Royale, the newly crowned TNT Champion Cody came to the ring, and announced to Tony Schiavone and the world that he would stand in the center of the ring each and every week with an open challenge for that TNT Championship. It was a bold statement, a brave promise, but one that Cody may never even have a chance to fulfill if Jack has his way Wednesday night and ends Cody’s reign in his very first title defense.

,Can Jungle Boy live up to the potential he showed back with Jericho? Can he upset Cody in the nascent stages of his TNT Championship run? Or will Cody get to June 10th as the champion and get to see who answers his first open challenge?

,,WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

,,Kenny Omega & Hangman Page (c) vs. The Superbad Squad (Jimmy Havoc & Kip Sabian w/ Penelope Ford)

https://www.youtube.com/embed/auOSMYoUEF8

,February 29th, “Revolution”, a successful AEW World Tag Team Title defense against The Young Bucks; that was not only the last time Adam Page and Kenny Omega defended the titles, but also the last time they were together as a tag team unit. Initially Omega was recovering from a wrist injury, and then everything wrapped up in the Coronavirus situation kept Page away for several months, going through his own tribulations documented on “Being The Elite”.

,But at the crucial moment, when his Elite brethren truly needed him, Page returned to AEW to successfully battle The Inner Circle at “Double or Nothing” during that landmark Stadium Stampede fight. Now Page and Omega will reunite this Wednesday with aims to continue their 130+ day title reign at the expense of Kip Sabian and Jimmy Havoc aka The Superbad Squad.

,Now Sabian and Havoc are on a bit of a roll heading into this one, having won their last three tag team battles, including a victory last week on “Dynamite” over the first World Tag Team Champions, Frankie Kazarian & Scorpio Sky, to earn this opportunity. They are two very different athletes, very different personalities, but Kip and Jimmy have gelled together wonderfully both personally and professionally. And it would be remiss to forget that added edge The Superbad Squad has outside the ring with one Penelope Ford.

,Will all this time apart prove the detrimental factor for the defending champions, or can they pull it together like The Elite did at “Double or Nothing” to retain their title? Or will we see The SBS do what The Young Bucks, SCU, and The Lucha Bros could not and dethrone Page and Omega? And awaiting the victors, the #1 Ranked Team in AEW, The Best Friends of Chuck Taylor and Trent!

,,RETURN OF THE SWOLE…

,,(#1) “The Native Beast” Nyla Rose vs. Big Swole

,It’s been three months since fans have seen Big Swole compete inside the AEW ring, a victory over Leva Bates on March 4th to be exact, but this week on “Dynamite”, one of the most popular women on the roster returns to action! Her opponent for the night, none other than former Women’s World Champion, “The Native Beast” Nyla Rose. Now some may find this intimidating, especially since their last meeting back on January 29th saw Nyla victorious, but Swole is not one to back down to any opponent. Just go back and look at “Double or Nothing” where Swole had to be restrained from going at Nyla during the course of the latter’s failed title defense against Hikaru Shida.

,The key word there, the one that may reflect on this meeting, is FAILED. This is a Rose who has found an even deeper level to her anger, something that doesn’t seem possible and yet here we are. She wants the Women’s Championship back, she feels it is hers by right, and Nyla will decimate everyone in her path to reclaiming that title. It’s a scary thought, that of a “Native Beast” even more uncontrollable than before, but if there is one thing clear as crystal about Big Swole, it’s that she does not shake easily and will bring the fight right back to Rose.

,,ONE-ON-ONE…

,,“Le Champion” Chris Jericho vs. “Boom Boom” Colt Cabana

,Jericho was going to knock out Mike Tyson…

,You heard it yourself in that video embedded above, the former AEW World Champion was going to knock out one of the most legendary boxers in the history of the Sweet Science, and it was totally Colt Cabana’s fault he didn’t get to do it.

,Totally…

,Well now “Le Champion” can seek his revenge in the best way possible, inside the squared circle, with a first-time ever match between two very well-traveled veterans. Despite their differences in tenure as professionals, “Boom Boom” and Jericho have similar experiences. Both have competed extensively in the United States, both have seen action in Japanese rings as well as those of the United Kingdom, Germany, etc. And while their chosen styles of wrestling are different on the whole, each is quite adaptable to their situation and to their opponents.

,All of that added up makes for quite an intriguing match-up this week on “Dynamite”. It is certainly the most high-profile singles contest Colt Cabana has competed in since signing with All Elite Wrestling, and the toughest one-on-one bout Jericho has entered into since losing the AEW World Title to Jon Moxley last February at “Revolution”.

,What a notch on his belt it would be for Cabana to knock Jericho down a peg or two in front of a worldwide television audience on “Dynamite”, and what a way to draw eyeballs when it comes to future championship contention. Will it be “Boom Boom” or “Le Champion” who walks away with the “W” in this first-time ever treat going down this Wednesday night?

,And, by the way, what’s with Cabana taking that Dark Order flyer??

,,THE PATH OF CAGE RAGES ON…

https://www.youtube.com/embed/Azqrf7Zw6G4

,Last week AEW World Champion Jon Moxley joined the commentary table to bear witness to Brian Cage’s first match on “Dynamite” after Taz’s protege won the Casino Ladder Match to earn a future World Title match. Cage absolutely dominated Lee Johnson, defeating the man in under 90 seconds to herald his arrival in AEW with authority, and demonstrate to Moxley some of what was in store come their scheduled “Fyter Fest”.

,This week “The Machine” will be in action once again, with Taz in his corner, to continue his march towards that inevitable meeting with Jon Moxley. Who will be the unfortunate soul slotted to face Cage? Tune in Wednesday night to find out!

,,FTR & TONY SCHIAVONE…

https://www.youtube.com/embed/HPMMjtA3BHM

,Last week they made quite an impactful debut on “Dynamite”, and this week Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler will sit-down with Tony Schiavone to get a few things off their chest! They crashed onto the scene a week ago to fight off The Butcher and The Blade’s assault on The Young Bucks, and then promptly turned their backs on Matt and Nick Jackson following the save.

,What prompted that assist from Dax and Cash, and their rather dismissive actions after the fact? Where are their heads at, and what brings them to All Elite Wrestling, the home of the absolute best tag team wrestling on the planet? A desire for the competition? A hunt for championships? Or something even deeper?

,Hopefully Tony Schiavone can find the answers this week when he sits down with FTR, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler, on this week’s edition of “Dynamite”!

,,We could have two new champions at the end of Wednesday night with both the World Tag Team and TNT Championships up for grabs! Plus Nyla Rose on the hunt to reclaim the Women’s World Title, Brian Cage looking to build momentum towards his World Title Match, FTR speaking their minds with Tony Schiavone, and Jericho versus Cabana! It’s another jam-packed episode of “Dynamite” this Wednesday night on TNT, coming to you at 8pm EST/7pm CST and on AEWPlus.com for our international fans!
