This is it, the final edition of DYNAMITE before ALL OUT 2020, and fans can certainly expect this to be an unpredictable one! Last week, MJF and Jon Moxley made their AEW World Title Match official with the caveat that the Paradigm Shift was banned from usage. Well, Mox slid his own addendum into that contract in the form of a warm-up match with Max’s lawyer this Wednesday night!
Also, Sammy Guevara beat Matt Hardy at his own game in the Tables Match, The Dark Order attempted to celebrate the new TNT Champion rather unsuccessfully, Big Swole beat the odds, Hangman got evicted from The Elite, and the AEW Women’s Championship match for ALL OUT 2020 was also finalized!
What will this penultimate edition of DYNAMITE bring to the table? Find out at 8pm EST/7pm CST LIVE on TNT, or on AEWPlus.com if you’re watching internationally, to see what unfolds just three days before ALL OUT 2020! And make sure you head on over to your official YouTube channel (Watch Here) for the Pre- and Post-Game shows for the full Elite Experience!
TUNE-UP FOR THE CHAMP…
***IF STERLING NO-SHOWS, MJF LOSES HIS TITLE MATCH***
AEW World Champion Jon Moxley vs. Mark Sterling
It was several weeks ago when MJF began his campaign in pursuit of the World Champion Jon Moxley, sporting slogans like WE DESERVE BETTER and NOT MY CHAMPION, as he pressed his candidacy to become AEW World Champion. Max dubbed Moxley as “Dictator Jon” in his various diatribes and even took to blasting Jon with his own championship belt during a title defense against Darby Allin, hoping to cost Mox the championship and set himself up with a “weaker” opponent for ALL OUT 2020.
That backfired, and when it came time to pay the piper, MJF found himself on the receiving end of a massive Paradigm Shift from the champ. And that is why we find ourselves in the position of Moxley getting himself a little pay-per-view warm-up at the expense of MJF’s lawyer Mark Sterling.
Max wanted the Paradigm Shift banned for his World Championship shot this Saturday night, and through Sterling’s legal machinations, MJF got exactly what he asked for, except in their enthusiasm to get the ban, neither read the fine print.
See page seventeen of the contract also stipulated that Moxley would get one Mark Sterling in a tune-up match this Wednesday night on DYNAMITE, and should Sterling elect to no-show this fight, then his client would forfeit his championship bout at ALL OUT 2020!
As the Proverbs say, “Arrogance will be your downfall…”, will Sterling’s pride prove to be the downfall of MJF? Or will the lawyer actually stand by his client in this trying time by showing up to insure Max gets what he has legitimately earned with his unbeaten singles record and number one spot in the rankings?
TAG TEAM GRUDGE MATCH…
Proud-n-Powerful (Santana & Ortiz) vs. (#2) The Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent)
Strong words embedded above from Santana and Ortiz as they head into this rematch from the August 5th edition of DYNAMITE. The first meeting was a losing effort for the duo representing The Inner Circle, but clearly they are coming into this one with a fire, and desire to hurt Chucky T and Trent. That desire clearly stems as much from a lack of respect, as from the flash pin defeat PnP suffered a month ago, a loss that served to break their three match win streak. Sure trashing the Trents’s mom’s van gave Santana and Ortiz a little measure of satisfaction, as did trashing their luggage and gear in the locker room, and beating down OC, Chuck, and Trent on SATURDAY NIGHT DYNAMITE was a sweet bit of comeuppance as well. But nothing, no single thing, will prove as satisfying for Santana and Ortiz as defeating The Best Friends inside the ring, in a proper match.
Ultimately, when we get down to brass tacks, that is the most important thing in All Elite Wrestling. What happens from the time the opening bell rings until the final bell tolls to signal the end of the match, that is the most important thing in AEW. Every locker room attack, any damage down to personal property, each verbal assault; all of those things are the preamble before our competitors have to face one another, and done with the intent of getting an advantage, however slight it may be.
It is safe to say that outside the ring, it is Proud-n-Powerful who hold that card, but when the time comes for the fight, it is Chuck and Trent who have proven dominant. Not only do they hold that victory from August 5th, but they were also on the winning side of a ten man tag against The Inner Circle in late July, as well as a six man tag in June against Jake Hager and PnP.
None of that has to sit well with Santana and Ortiz, and thus the various ways they’ve elected to get reprisal whenever the opportunity has been presented. The Best Friends, for their side of this, given the damaged inflicted on property and persons alike, have maintained a calm exterior, merely looking for any apology for the damage done to Sue’s van. That exterior belies the fighting nature underneath, the willingness to fight alongside their friend Orange Cassidy in this battle with The Inner Circle, and to stand up for the disrespect heaped upon their family. They are fighters, they are warriors when the time comes for the fight, and that is something Santana and Ortiz better recognize before they find themselves on the wrong side of that last bell toll once more.
ONE-ON-ONE…
“The DemoGod” Chris Jericho vs. “The Bad Boy” Joey Janela
When last we saw Chris Jericho, the self-proclaimed “DemoGod” of AEW, he was fighting with Orange Cassidy as the hostilities continue to escalate between the two heading into their Mimosa Mayhem match at ALL OUT.
Joey Janela was last seeing getting his head crunched into the apron by a Package Piledriver from Penta El Zero M on Wednesday night, before Brian Pillman Jr ate the pinfall to lose the eight man tag for his team.
But this Wednesday night, just a few days prior to ALL OUT 2020, these two men from insanely different backgrounds will collide for the very first time in their careers. In one corner, it’s the world traveled, thirty year veteran who has competed in every major promotion in the United States over the course of his career, as well as in Japan, Mexico, and Germany, just to name a few.
In the other corner, with half the years in the ring but a hell of a lot of mileage on the body, stands a veteran of the independent circuit who has traveled the roads of the United States, made his forays into the UK, Japan, and Canada, and earned his way to AEW with the work ethic and dedication that is required when grinding it out for the proverbial hot dog and a handshake.
Fans worldwide know Jericho’s resume, the level of talent he faced for three decades prior to signing on with All Elite Wrestling, and how he was the first man to hold the AEW World Championship. Joey, just since signing with AEW, has gone to war with Jon Moxley and with Kenny Omega on two occasions, he has fought Cody, Lance Archer, Rey Fenix, as well as Shawn Spears, and although his success rate in this bouts isn’t stellar, they have shown the world the kind of fight Joey brings to the table no matter who he is facing.
One can’t help but wonder if Jericho isn’t looking at Janela, and seeing parallels to Orange Cassidy? Given each man’s deep roots in the independent circuit, how they both busted their tails (albeit in very different ways) to prove they belonged with the elite wrestlers of the world here in AEW, it is certainly possible that Jericho aims to make Joey an example on Wednesday night.
Jericho will come to find that the thought of making Janela an example is far easier than the actual execution of the idea. “The Bad Boy” never quits, he never stops fighting as long as he can still stand, and Jericho will come to find the same thing that Moxley, Omega, Cody, and other have discovered since Joey Janela signed on with AEW: that The Bad Boy is a damn good wrestler, and not to be taken lightly.
8-MAN TAG TEAM ACTION…
***THE WINNING TEAM WILL FIGHT EACH OTHER AT ALL OUT***
The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) & Jurassic Express (Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy)
vs.
Private Party (Marq Quen & Isiah Kassidy) & SCU (Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian)
Last week was not a good one for Matt and Nick Jackson, or for The Elite as a whole. As seen in the video embedded above, Hangman Page was directly responsible for The Young Bucks losing their second match in the Gauntlet Series to The Best Friends. Whether or not they could’ve gone on to beat FTR in the final match to earned the World Tag Team Title shot at ALL OUT 2020 is a question that will never be answered, and it is because of Hangman’s actions. The immediate repercussions for that can be seen below:
But this Wednesday night, the brothers Jackson have to put this disintegration of The Elite aside to focus on an eight man tag against very familiar foes in Private Party and SCU. And this one has a very unique stipulation added on in that the winning quartet will secure themselves a spot on the ALL OUT 2020 card, but it will be the two units facing off against each other in a tag team battle. Saturday night it will either be The Young Bucks versus Jurassic Express or Private Party versus the SCU pair of Chris Daniels and Frankie Kazarian, but they have to get through DYNAMITE first.
It will mark the first time The Young Bucks have united with Jurassic Express like this, and just the second time their foes have joined forces, with the first being a losing effort on AEW DARK several weeks back. These eight man tags have become a hallmark of All Elite Wrestling, and all four teams have had more than their fair share since AEW’s inception. Which quartet will elevate their game on Wednesday and secure their spots for Saturday night’s pay-per-view extravaganza? Tune in starting at 8pm EST to see for yourself!
THE NWA ON AEW ON TNT…
Just a few days before her challenge for the AEW Women’s World Championship against Hikaru Shida, the NWA Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa will be in action on DYNAMITE, marking her All Elite Wrestling debut! It’s a chance for Shida to scout her opponent up-close and personal before ALL OUT 2020, and for Rosa to show the AEW Champion the threat she represents in-person. Just one more DYNAMITE to go before ALL OUT 2020, and it is loaded with action, rife with drama, and will shape the final face of our next pay-per-view extravaganza. MJF could lose his shot! A tag team match will be set by the eight man encounter! Where will Page and Omega stand
after the former’s actions last week? What’s next for TNT Champion Brodie Lee, The Dark Order, and the men like Scorpio Sky & Matt Cardona who stood up to them last week? What about the Casino Battle Royale and the men like Lance Archer and Darby Allin who look to stake their claim there?
