Cinema Con: Paramount Pictures Presentation Highlights

PARAMOUNT PICTURES INVITES YOU TO AN EXCLUSIVE PRESENTATION HIGHLIGHTING ITS UPCOMING SLATE

Paramount Pictures was the second to last major Hollywood Studio to hold its presentation at CinemaCon 2024. The studio which brought some awesome reveals and announcements held its showcase on Thursday April 11th at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

Since its debut in 2011 CinemaCon, has annually hosted studios, exhibitors, press, industry professionals and more to celebrate the theatrical experience. The industry event has grown to become the most important gathering for the worldwide motion picture theater industry with attendees from more than 80 countries.

While CinemaCon is not open to the public, attendees saw exclusive footage and first-look reveals not available for general audiences. But we got you covered with all the announcements and reveals from Paramount Pictures’ 2024 CinemaCon Presentation!

 

After Paramount, Walt Disney Studios will be the last presentation to show their upcoming slate of theatrical releases to theater owners at CinemaCon 2024.

 

Paramount had the best studio entrance as armored Roman Gladiators took the stage with a Roman Chariot on brand live from Caesars Palace. Classic Cinemas did a brief discussion on the importance of improving the experience for movie-goers and the level of service and commitment required of the cinematic experience. 

The thrilling Paramount Presentation was loaded with tons of exciting announcements including the highly anticipated adaptation of ‘The Last Ronin’ graphic-novel, a New Star Trek origins story, a G.I. Joe/ Transformers crossover, and upcoming sequels for TMNT and Paw Patrol in 2026.

We also got a brand new trailer for the upcoming family comedy ‘IF’ written and directed by John Krasinski, and first looks at Gladiator 2, Smile 2, the animated Transformers: One and A Quiet Place: Day One.

New Paramount Pictures films confirmed at CinemaCon 2024:

 

    • David Ayer to direct Heart of the Beast with Damien Chazelle producing. The story follows a former Navy SEAL and his retired combat dog who attempt to return to civilization after a catastrophic accident deep in the Alaskan wilderness. 
    • Star Trek: Origins film written by Seth Grahame-Smith.
    • G.I. Joe/ Transformers Crossover film.
    • Glenn Powell to star in Edgar wright’s Remake of The Running Man.
    • Damien Chazelle is set to direct an untitled film for Paramount based off an original script he wrote.
    • Ridley Scott set to direct a Bee Gees biopic.
    • A new original horror film titled Vicious starring Dakota Fanning.
    • An R-Rated live-action adaption of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin in the works from Producer Walter Hamada.
    • The Naked Gun remake starring Liam Neeson and directed by Akiva Schaffer.
    • A new installment of The Scary Movie comedy franchise.
    • A new production coming from the South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone with music from Kendrick Lamar.
    • Coming off of big animation success, new installments of Paw Patrol 3 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem in 2026.  
    • The Smurfs cast to include Rihanna, James Corden, Nick Offerman.
    • Aang: The Last Airbender from the original creators first of 3 animated movies, with the voice cast featuring Eric Nam as Aang and Dave Bautista as the film’s villain.

Transformers One

Release Date: September 13, 2024.
Directed by Josh Cooley.

Transformers One – Scarlett Johanson sends a video introducing the new Transformers animation which is the first in nearly 60 years. Coming to the stage Chris Hemsworth voices Optimus Prime, and Brian Tyree Henry voices Megatron. The ensemble voice cast also includes Scarlett Johanson Keegan-Michael Key, Steven Buscemi, Laurence Fishburne, and Jon Hamm. We get a first look at every Transformer, who has their own origin story. CinemaCon previewed an extended scene in Dolby-3D. 

The story follows a young Optimus Prime, still known as Orion Pax (Hemsworth), and his brother-like relationship with a young Megatron, known as D-16 (Tyree Henry).

 

Joseph Quinn and Lupita Nyong’o made an appearance and discussed their thrilling experience filming in New York as they showcased the extended trailer. Day One finds our characters on the day the world falls silent on a scale more compelling and horrifying than ever.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3

We got a very brief teaser of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which hasn’t completed production yet. The brief look showed Jim Carrey returning as Dr. Robotnik in his lab, but a much heavier set and messy version with a room full of junk, messy out of control hair and a noticeable belly before cutting to Robotnik getting a game accurate hair cut from Agent Stone with his iconic mustache and bald head.

Smile 2

The Horror mystery Smile 2 is coming soon from Director Parker Finn. The evil entity continues to pass it horrific curse from person to person in the next installment in the “Smile” franchise. 

Originally slated for streaming the #1 original horror film of the year returns as Finn promises more jumpscares. Naomi Scott, Lucas Gage, Kyle Gallner, Sosie Bacon star in the upcoming horror film out this October.

Gladiator 2

CinemaCon was the first to see footage of an early look at the upcoming sequel of the historical epic drama from Director and Co-Producer Ridley Scott. The five minute segment with its world debut featured unfinished footage as the film is still months away from its release. Legendary Award-winning Director of some of the most epic films of all time: Ridley Scott introduced the clip over video which started with footage from the original film as we the iconic shot of Maximus (Russel Crowe) grazing his hand through a wheat field. We are then introduced to Paul Mescal’s character Lucius, a renounced nobleman entering the arena.

Gladiator 2 takes place 24 years after the best picture original film as Lucius recalls the impact that Maximus had in the Colosseum “that a slave could get justice in the arena.” His sponsor in the arena is played by Academy Award winning actor Denzel Washington, who is seen coaching Lucius with advice and wisdom in the trailer. The sequel also stars Joseph Quinn and Pedro Pascal, with Connie Nielsen returning as Lucilla. The next chapter of the incredible story is said to be an emotional action spectacle on a scale unlike anything else this year.
