The Boy Behind the Door – Movie Review (2020) | Fantastic Fest 2020

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMV-ldaYu-I Big Gold Belt Media Reviews The Boy Behind The Door starring Lonnie Chavis and Ezra Dewey and directors Justin Powell and David Charbonier – After Bobby and his best friend Kevin are kidnapped and taken to a strange house in the middle of nowhere, Bobby manages to escape. But as he starts to make a break for it, he hears Kevin’s screams for help and realizes he can’t leave his friend behind. Co-writers and directors Justin Powell and David Charbonier have crafted an incredibly taught thriller, constantly ratcheting the tension up and keeping the audience on their toes. Despite being one of their first features, it is remarkably well crafted. The score and sound design create an awesome sense of dread and foreboding from the first frame that never lets up. Lonnie Chavis and Ezra Dewey, as Bobby and Kevin respectively, are both amazing in incredibly difficult and demanding roles. Lonnie in particular has to carry most of the film on his young shoulders and he proves more than up to the daunting tasks. A truly dark and unrelenting film with elements of pure evil, THE BOY BEHIND THE DOOR has plenty of twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat all the way to the credits.
