CinemaCon 2025 Sony Pictures Panel Announcements
Sony opened their presentation with Anaconda stars Paul Rudd and Jack Black introducing the chairman of Sony- Tom Rothman. Sony then had the directors of their upcoming films, as well as some surprises take the stage to share footage and trailers.
28 Years Later
Director Danny Boyle told everyone he still likes apocalypses, killing the infected, and blowing shit up. He then shared the world premiere of trailer 2 featuring lots of shots of the infected attacking the non-infected. Boyle also shared they wanted to make 3 movies.
The second film 28 Years Later The Bone Temple is directed by Nia DaCosta. She is a longtime fan of the original 28 Days Later. She teases you’ve never seen Ralph Fiennes like this. The image of him has his character looking absolutely deranged and unhinged.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse
Phil Lord, Justin K Thompson, Bob Persichetti confirmed the film will release on June 4 2027. They say they are breaking the boundaries of animation again with the conclusion of Miles’ story. The film picks up the second Across the Spider-Verse ends. This massive finale is especially made for Large Format Screens (PLF).
Caught Stealing
Director Darren Aronofsky says the film will be a love letter to the greatest city in the world- New York.
Resident Evil
Director Zach Cregger teases that they are going to descend into hell for this film.
A Big Bold Beautiful Journey
Kogonada brought the first look of the film. It is two people reckoning with their past to find love in the present. The film stars Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell and will be in theaters September 19.
GOAT
Director Tyree Dillihay shared that Goat is about Will Harris. Will is a little goat, determined to team up with his idol to make it into the big leagues. You can dream big no matter the size. Producer and inspiration for the story, Steph Curry sent in a recorded message. He is excited for the film and it speaks to his story– how being underrated became his superpower.
ANIME
DEMON SLAYER INFINITY CASTLE- the epic trilogy begins September 12.
CHAINSAW MAN will hit US theaters October 29.
SCARLET is aiming for a winter release.
I Know What You Did Last Summer – July 18
Footage shows a couple in their home. The wife goes to relax in a bathtub when her husband is brutally attacked by a harpoon. The Fisherman is after him.
Freddie Prinze Jr. says this isn’t the first time there has been violence in this town. Sarah Michelle Gellar’s picture is shown from the original film. Jennifer Love Hewitt says: I have a question, what did you do last summer?
Karate Kid Legends
A live performance with drums and martial artists before stars Ralph Macchio and Ben Wang took the stage. They shared two scene from the film.
#1- Lee gets a surprise visit from his grandfather, Mr. Han (Jackie Chan).
#2- Mr. Han pays an unexpected visit to Daniel LaRusso. He tells him that Miyagi talked about him all the time and he needs his help. He doesn’t want his grandson Lee to learn karate, he wants him to learn Miyagi karate.
Spider-Man 4
Director Destin Danial Cretton: “There is something about this character… the hero behind the mask wasn’t so different from me.”
