Green-Band Trailer:

The Rise of Ashur

Set in a re-imagined world where passion and brutality collide, House of Ashur resurrects the treacherous survivor Ashur (Nick E. Tarabay, Spartacus, The Expanse). Once a slave, he now rules as Dominus, the master of his own ludus, commanding a stable of deadly gladiators. Fueled by vengeance and raw ambition, Ashur claws his way from disgrace to dominance, manipulating Rome’s hierarchy with every drop of blood spilled in his arena.

His rise, however, sparks new rivalries. The series introduces Korris (Graham McTavish, The Witcher), a battle-scarred trainer; Achillia (Tenika Davis, Jupiter’s Legacy), a gladiatrix defying the patriarchy; and Tarchon (Jordi Webber, Prosper), a cunning upstart hungry for power. Even Julius Caesar (Jackson Gallagher) and his wife Cornelia (Jaime Slater) enter this treacherous new Rome, where sex, strategy, and steel decide who survives.

A Blood-Soaked New Chapter

The trailer teases the return of the franchise’s signature style — hyper-stylized combat, seductive alliances, and political mind games turned deadly. STARZ describes the series as “a thrilling, erotic, and history-bending roller coaster” that imagines what would have happened if Ashur had lived — rewarded for his betrayal with control of the very gladiator school that once owned him.

House of Ashur flips the old order on its head, putting a woman at the center of Rome’s arena with Achillia’s violent ascent. Together, she and Ashur ignite a new form of spectacle that shocks the elite and blurs the line between sport and slaughter.

The Cast and Creative Team

Alongside Tarabay, McTavish, Davis, Webber, Gallagher, and Slater, the series features:

  • Jamaica Vaughan as Hilara
  • Ivana Baquero (Pan’s Labyrinth) as Messia
  • Claudia Black (Ahsoka) as Cossutia
  • India Shaw-Smith as Viridia
  • Leigh Gill (Joker) as Satyrus

The project reunites creator and showrunner Steven S. DeKnight (Daredevil, Pacific Rim Uprising) with STARZ, joined by executive producers Rick Jacobson (Ash vs. Evil Dead) and Aaron Helbing (The Flash). The series is produced by Lionsgate Television for STARZ.

A Legacy Reforged

Originally launched in 2010, Spartacus revolutionized historical drama with its visceral violence and operatic storytelling. Now, more than a decade later, House of Ashur reignites that legacy for a new generation — promising new alliances, political betrayals, and shocking eroticism.

All previous chapters of SpartacusBlood and Sand, Gods of the Arena, Vengeance, and War of the Damned — are available now on the STARZ app to relive before the new saga begins.
