Grayson Waller def. Ikemen Jiro
Two Superstars going in opposite directions opened 205 Live, as Ikemen Jiro looked to remain undefeated on the brand, while a desperate Grayson Waller was ready to do anything to halt his four-match losing streak.
Jiro brought the WWE Universe in the Capitol Wrestling Center to its feet by sailing head-over-heels above the top rope and following up with a swanton, but Waller narrowly broke up the three-count by grabbing the bottom rope.
And after backing into the corner to protect himself and causing the hard-charging Jiro to pause momentarily, Waller delivered a kick to the chest and went sky-high to stomp Jiro into the canvas. In one fell swoop, Waller ended his losing streak and sent Jiro to the loser’s circle for the first time on 205 Live.
Josh Briggs def. Joe Gacy
As he made clear during a pre-match address, Josh Briggs doesn’t care about weight limits.
And with the announcement that 205 Live may now feature competitors above the 205-pound threshold, Briggs clearly came to the right place for a hoss fight against Joe Gacy.
Briggs and Gacy, who were each eliminated in the first round of the NXT Breakout Tournament, pummeled one another with several savage strikes in the early goings.
Gacy caught fire when he landed a few punches and drove his opponent back-first into the mat with a uranage and a belly-to-back suplex, but Briggs shook off the punishment and landed a brutal clothesline for the win. Both competitors locked eyes and traded subtle nods of respect as 205 Live concluded.
