A Dose Of Colemanism: A Season Finale

One of my favorite things about a TV series is the buildup to the season finale.

There’s no bigger buildup than the one to Ring of Honor Wrestling’s Final Battle: End of an Era on Saturday.

This is the first Final Battle in which I feel every championship is in danger. We’re going into a pay-per-view where the champions are the underdogs.

Let’s start with the World Six-Man Tag Team Titles. Shane Taylor Promotions (Kaun, Moses, and O’Shay Edwards) will be defending against The Righteous (Vincent, Bateman and Dutch). Edwards is in the match because STP’s leader, Shane Taylor, is in the singles fight of his life against Kenny King. Edwards is a dominant athlete, but the titles are at risk because The Righteous have their leader, and a sinister one at that.

The World Tag Team Titles are being defended by honorable champions The OGK (Matt Taven and Mike Bennett) against the very tag team that has built and maintained the division, Jay and Mark Briscoe. The match pits a team that wants to leave with the championships they fought so hard to win versus a team that wants to leave with the championships they’ve made important.

The Pure Title is on the line as champion Josh Woods faces Brian Johnson. The only reason I see Woods being an underdog is because he is the purest of pure wrestlers. Johnson has proven to be the most cunning wrestler on the roster. He has found his way in the Pure division by finding ways to manipulate the Pure rules to his favor. This is a technical beast versus an evil wizard.

The Women’s World Championship is on the line as Rok-C defends her title against Willow.
Both are lovable people, but Willow has the advantage in size, strength and experience. That’s not to take anything away from Rok-C, who is indeed “The Prodigy.” However, Rok-C isn’t always as aggressive as she could be early in matches. Willow can put you away at any time and do it with a genuine smile on her face. It doesn’t get any more dangerous than that.

The World Title match is one that every fan wants to see: Champion Bandido against the very man who put the Pure division back on the map, Jonathan Gresham. Gresham has vowed to purify Ring of Honor Wrestling as this era comes to an end. Winning the World Title would achieve that goal. Bandido is explosive, fast and deceptively strong. However, he is facing a man who has rewritten every wrestling textbook known to man.

Final Battle will be the end of an era, not the end of Ring of Honor. This is a season finale, and you don’t want to miss this!

Just something to think about. I call it a dose of Colemanism.
