A Dose Of Colemanism: It’s About Time

Time is the only thing in life that you cannot control. It is impossible to pause, fast forward, or rewind, and you literally can’t buy more of it.

Early in life, I realized I could accomplish more if I scheduled my day. I learned that if I forced structure into my day, I didn’t lose track of time as much. This was mostly due to battling ADD (attention deficit disorder) growing up and having a mom who did not want me “medicated.”

Things began to turn around for me. I was becoming known for being punctual, and it was appreciated. When I think about it, the only thing I really did was to start to respect time. I would almost go so far as to say I submitted to time.

From my perspective, time controlled everything. There was a time to wake up, go to bed, attend classes, eat, complete deadlines, age, instruct, and heal. Losing track of time can cause embarrassment, opportunity loss, injury, or even death.

Things like setting New Year’s resolutions are a way to use time to say “on your mark, get set, go.”

My question for you is: How are you using time? Are you putting your goals in the hands of something that you cannot predict? Time is not promised to any of us. All we can do is make the best of it. Is it possible that you’re delaying your next success?

Just something to think about. I call it a dose of Colemanism. Caprice Coleman is ROH’s color analyst and has been wrestling for more than 20 years. He also is an ordained minister and motivational speaker. A Dose of Colemanism appears every Thursday.
