Coming off a superb night of action on DYNAMITE headlined by Powerhouse Hobbs ending the 3-day old TNT Championship reign of Wardlow, with a little assist from QT Marshall, All Elite Wrestling is right back at it with an all-new edition of RAMPAGE! Coming your way from Sacramento and the Golden1 Center, there are four huge match-ups on tap, including a return bout from one of AEW’s earliest rivalries, The Acclaimed in action, Takeshita versus “Perro Peligroso”, and it all kicks off with The J.A.S. looking for a little more vengeance against Action Andretti!

On Friday night, RAMPAGE comes to you on TNT starting at 10pm ET/9pm CT, so before we get started, be sure to visit the official AEW YouTube channel to get prepared for the night with highlights from DYNAMITE, as well as the most recent episodes of AEW DARK: ELEVATION, AEW DARK, and ROAD TO…, plus the CONTROL CENTER with Tony Schiavone!

AN OLD RIVALRY REDUX

Riho vs. “The Native Beast” Nyla Rose

It has been over three years since the last time Riho and Nyla Rose collided inside the squared circle one-on-one, and on that night, as seen in the video embedded above, Rose defeated Riho to claim the AEW Women’s World Championship for herself. It evened up their head-to-head series at one win apiece, with Riho having defeated Nyla a few months prior to become the very first AEW Women’s World Champion.

And while they’ve collided several times in the intervening years in Trios matches, there has not been the opportunity for a rubber match between the two former champions, not until this Friday night on RAMPAGE! In the main event of AEW’s Friday night spectacular, the 1st and 2nd Women’s World Champions will lock horns for the third time in singles competition. The physical differences are obvious, Riho fighting from underneath in terms of size, Rose not being able to match the speed and technique of her foe, but each time the two women have found ways to compensate for what they lack, and score victories over the other.

Will it be Riho or Nyla Rose who gets the “W” in this long-awaited rubber match of former champions? And what will a victory here mean for each women’s future championship endeavors?

ONE-ON-ONE

Konosuke Takeshita vs. “El Perro Peligroso” Preston Vance

A week ago Konosuke Takeshita was approached by Don Callis, and while Takeshita didn’t say yes to Callis, he didn’t throw away the man’s business card either. There seems to be at least a curiosity about what Don has to offer, about what he can do for Konosuke Takeshita’s AEW career, and although Don Callis does feel like a slimey individual, he also holds a wealth of wrestling knowledge inside that brain of his.

So while it remains to be seen if Takeshita will bring Don Callis to his side, one thing that is absolutely certain is the hard-hitting fight the Japanese wrestling star has on his hands this Friday night come RAMPAGE! Since joining LFI, Preston Vance has unleashed a vicious side never seen prior to his betrayal of The Dark Order, collecting the masks of whatever luchador happens to be placed across the ring from La Faccion Ingobernable. While Takeshita may not have a garb that Vance can take as a trophy, a victory over this rising star would be clutch for both “Perro Peligroso” and LFI.

This is a match-up between two of AEW’s hardest-hitters; which one will relent first?

GRUDGE MATCH…

Action Andretti vs. “Spanish God” Sammy Guevara

Wednesday night was a triumphant one for the Jericho Appreciation Society, defeating AR Fox and Top Flight in a trios bout, and then successfully working their way into a World Trios Championship bout in Winnipeg against both The Elite and new champions The House of Black.

Still, that success doesn’t change the failure that occurred at REVOLUTION 2023 when Ricky Starks defeated Chris Jericho for the second time, nor does it change the fact that Action Andretti stopped Sammy Guevara from interfering in the fight despite the “Everyone Banned From Ringside” stipulation. With that in his mind, “The Spanish God” heads into this Friday night on RAMPAGE looking for a measure of revenge against Andretti for daring to stick his nose into J.A.S. business once again.

Last time they locked up, Sammy picked up the victory as a direct result of Daniel Garcia’s interference, but will that be the case once again now that Andretti has become quite familiar with the tactics employed by The Jericho Appreciation Society? Can Action experience the thrill of success against Guevara that he did against Jericho with that upset victory weeks ago? These two will kick off another action-packed edition of RAMPAGE starting at 10pm ET/9pm CT, so don’t miss a minute of the fastest hour of professional wrestling!

THE ACCLAIMED IN ACTION

The Acclaimed were unsuccessful in their attempt to regain the AEW World Tag Team Championship in that Four Way bout at REVOLUTION 2023, and while the mission to reclaim those titles is still on, they now also have to deal with The Jericho Appreciation Society getting into their business. As Jericho and his ilk are wont to do, they see a good thing and parasitically try to latch onto it.

Clearly Bowens and Caster have no interest in anything The J.A.S. has to offer, and have to put that in their rear view as they head into tag team competition this Friday night on RAMPAGE. It’s the former champions time to rebuild en route to another championship opportunity, and it starts now!

THE NEXT CHAPTER

At REVOLUTION 2023, “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry laid to rest his long-standing issue with Christian Cage when he slammed the casket lid shut on his former friend and mentor. So what does a man do once he’s conquered his demons? That is the question facing Jack now that he longer has to worry about Christian lurking over his shoulder to squash any aspirations. It wasn’t that long ago that Perry declared he would carry a singles championship at some point in 2023; will this Friday night be the beginning of that journey? We will hear from the former AEW World Tag Team Champion on RAMPAGE about where his future may lie!

RAMPAGE gets started at 10pm ET/9pm CT on TNT, or at AEWPlus.com for our international audience, so before the action gets underway, visit the official AEW YouTube channel to get caught up on DYNAMITE highlights, as well as the latest episodes of AEW DARK: ELEVATION, AEW DARK, and the CONTROL CENTER with Tony Schiavone! Plus you can catch the REVOLUTION 2023 post-event Media Scrum with comments from AEW World Champion MJF following his successful title defense against Bryan Danielson!
