Wow…

There is little more that can be said about the main event of DYNAMITE this past Wednesday night. The bout between Kenny Omega and El Hijo del Vikingo was every bit the dream match fans had anticipated since their original bout was canceled two years ago, and the ovation Vikingo received after cameras went off the air was well-earned. What wasn’t earned was the reaction Hangman Page got for assisting Kenny Omega when “The Cleaner” was assaulted by The Blackpool Combat Club, and all because Don Callis did his best Eddie Guerrero impression, acting like Hangman had knocked him down. What had the potential to be a moment between two former championship partners was turned sour by “The Invisible Hand”.

In addition to that jaw-dropping main event, we learned that Adam Cole will face Daniel Garcia for his in-ring return next week on DYNAMITE, and we witnessed The Kingdom cost Top Flight their AEW World Tag Team Championship bid against The Gunns. But in turn, Austin and Colten were confronted by FTR who laid a tremendous amount on the line in order to get one more (maybe last) shot at the championship.

TNT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH…
Powerhouse Hobbs(c) vs. Penta El Zero Miedo
A week ago we all witnessed the Book of Hobbs add a new chapter when Powerhouse defeated Rey Fenix in the first defense of his TNT Championship. In a battle that was the epitome of speed versus power, power won out with a little help from its friend QT Marshall, and that gave QTV plenty of fuel for another edition this past Wednesday night.
Now, with another TNT Championship Open Challenge on hand, the other half of The Lucha Brothers is stepping up for a measure of vengeance against Powerhouse! Can Penta El Zero Miedo succeed where his brother failed one week ago? Or will he end up the next chapter in The Book of Hobbs? And if Powerhouse makes its past Penta, just who can bring a stop to the rampage that the TNT Champion has been on throughout 2023?
HOB VS. JAS…
Brody King vs. Jake Hager
https://www.youtube.com/embed/Lx2hRSiN73Q?start=122
Last Friday night, on the heels of both The J.A.S and The Elite failing to dethrone The House of Black as AEW World Trios Champions, Brody King and Daniel Garcia met in one-on-one competition. That bout came to an end thanks to Chris Jericho and Floyd getting involved in the fracas, and that loss to a J.A.S. member has been eating at King ever since.
This Saturday night on RAMPAGE, Brody will have an opportunity to make good for the Garcia loss when he faces The J.A.S’ heavy, Jake Hager! This battle between two of AEW’s super heavyweight is going to be a slugfest, no doubt, but which man will bring the win home for their faction? And if King falls two straight times to a J.A.S. member, does that mean something for their title contention prospects in a head-to-head collision instead of a Three Way bout?
ONE-ON-ONE…
Taya Valkyrie vs. Leila Grey
Just over a week ago, Taya Valkyrie made her AEW debut and confronted the undefeated TBS Champion Jade Cargill in that moment. Taya followed it up on RAMPAGE with a strong victory, capped off by finishing her opponent with a move that is identical to Cargill’s “Jaded” maneuver.
Clearly this is not something that sits well within Jade’s camp, and as such “Smart” Mark Sterling has drawn up something resembling a Cease & Desist but is likely not the most official of documents considering the source. Still, Leila Grey has taken it upon herself to be the messenger and step up to Taya Valkyrie this Saturday night on RAMPAGE! No matter how things go with The Baddies, Grey has always been the one looking to impress Jade, and take any risk on to do so. Come Saturday night, she will continue that tradition by trying to take down Taya just to impress Jade, as if Cargill actually cares about anything beyond herself. Still, if Leila proves capable of defeating the multi-time champion come RAMPAGE, the TBS Champion may have to pay her Baddie some attention and recognize the accomplishment, but if it goes the other way, there is little doubt that Cargill will let Grey hear all about her disappontment.
TAG TEAM BOUT…
The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster) vs. The Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett)
The Kingdom of Matt Taven, Mike Bennett, and Maria Kanellis-Bennett had themselves a busy night on Wednesday during DYNAMITE. It could be argued that, if not for them, Top Flight would be standing as AEW World Tag Team Champions, but instead it is still The Gunns who represent AEW’s tag team division.
The same could be said for The Acclaimed, except in their case it is directly Austin and Colten responsible for Max and Anthony no longer holding the AEW World Tag Team Title belts. But in the extremely competitive tag team environment within All Elite Wrestling, there is always someone looking to step up as the next challenger, as well as those aiming to reclaim what they once held, but when it’s as competitive as this, the match has to be earned. Earning their way to a championship match is something both of these teams desire, even if they have different methods to get there, but that’s not all they have in common.

Both The Acclaimed and The Kingdom are competing with other teams having their eyes on the situation. In the case of Anthony Bowens and Max Caster, it is Matt Menard and Angelo Parker who are observing the former champions, still angling to get them into The Jericho Appreciation Society, and for The Kingdom, especially after Wednesday night, it is Top Flight keeping a close eye on the actions of Taven, Bennett, and Maria.
So with all that going on around them, which duo is going to step up in the main event of RAMPAGE and elevate their position in the tag team hierarchy?
CALL OUT…
Juice Robinson laid out Ricky Starks just days after “Absolute” experienced the biggest victory of his AEW career, robbing Starks of any chance to bask in the moment, and actually pursue his plans for the future. Instead, Starks must now contend with whatever it is that Robinson wants, and clearly Ricky has no intention of sitting around talking about the who/what/why/how of it, but he does know the “when”. That would be this Saturday night on RAMPAGE where he has called out Juice to meet him face-to-face! Will we see this confrontation go down in Independence, MO, or will Robinson elect to not answer this call to battle?
