On Wednesday, November 6, OWN Network kicked off the highly anticipated new season of its hit reality series Love & Marriage: Huntsville with an exclusive live conversation and reception at NYA Studios West in Los Angeles. The event was graced by the show’s creator and executive producer, Carlos King, looking sharp as ever, alongside the Love & Marriage: Huntsville cast—Kimmi Scott, Maurice Scott, LaTisha Scott, and Marsau Scott.
Among the distinguished guests were TINA PERRY, President of OWN Network; SHIRLEY SALOMON, Vice President of Production at OWN; DARYL BOLANDER, Vice President of Programming & Development at OWN; and DREW TAPPON, Head of Unscripted Development and Executive Producer of Love & Marriage: Huntsville. Together, they celebrated OWN’s #1 series and its growing success.
The evening began with a lively red carpet reception, followed by a powerful sizzle reel showcasing Love & Marriage: Huntsville, the partnership with Carlos King, and the impactful storytelling of Kingdom Reign Productions. After the reel, Carlos took the stage to welcome the guests and introduce the Scotts.
A candid conversation about Black love, the show’s development, and the importance of authentic storytelling resonated deeply with the audience, earning a round of applause. Carlos King shared his vision for the show, saying, “When I created this show, I was intentional in trying to find black couples that were smart, educated, but still had issues and challenges. From Kimmie being a nurse to Maurice being a lawyer to LaTisha being a realtor and Marsau being a black developer; these couples represented black excellence. For it to be the #1 show on OWN is a blessing.”
The evening continued with a stylish reception, where guests enjoyed signature cocktails like the Carlos Spills The Tea, Spicy Love & Marriage Margarita, and Reign Drops, paired with delicious hors d’oeuvres. Local NAACP and NABJLA members, along with press, were also in attendance to celebrate the occasion.
Marsau Scott, who has been a key figure in the show’s success, reflected on the impact of the series, saying, “I try my best to be my authentically myself and even though there are times in the show that are not quite flattering, it’s our true reality, flaws and all. It’s hard to be vulnerable and share your life and story in front of the cameras, but it’s been therapeutic and healing not only for me, but for so many others that watch the series. From Kimmie battling breast cancer to them struggling as black business owners, Carlos and OWN has given us a platform to be seen and show the many sides of love and marriage.”
The event underscored OWN’s commitment to investing in African American creators and stories that authentically reflect the culture and community, leaving everyone feeling inspired and uplifted.
