After acclaimed runs in Los Angeles and New York, actress and writer Jessica Lia Berry and director Bailey Nassetta are taking their award-winning dark comedy I’m Still Not That Girl nationwide.

The one-woman show, which debuted at the Hollywood Fringe Festival and later won “Best Festival Debut” at New York’s United Solo Fest, is expanding to select cities across the U.S., including Philadelphia, Boston, Atlanta, Portland, and return engagements in both Los Angeles and New York City.

The tour announcement arrives on the heels of Berry’s Sundance Film Festival debut as executive producer on The Co-Op, directed by Aristotle Torres, which premiered through the Rideback Rise, Highway Labs and Adobe Development Program.

A Story of Grief, Chaos, and Unexpected Growth

I’m Still Not That Girl follows a young woman navigating life after the death of her mother — and realizing adulthood does not come with instructions. What begins as a comedic unraveling quickly evolves into something deeper.

The show explores grief through a lens of sharp humor and brutal honesty. Along the way, the protagonist tumbles through old flings, identity spirals, a fake engagement, a maybe-pregnancy, and a long-overdue relationship with therapy. Beneath the chaos, however, lies a rediscovery of the values her mother instilled in her — values that quietly guide her back toward herself.

The tone is dark, but the heartbeat is human.

“After losing my mother, I didn’t know which direction I was moving in. One thing became clear, life is short, and I didn’t want to live with regrets. I know my mother didn’t,” Berry shares.

She adds, “I had a story to tell, and my tragedy pushed me forward, allowing me to transform it into comedy, well dark comedy. With the I’m Still Not That Girl tour, I hope to reach new audiences across the country, connecting stories of grief with lots of laughter. I mean, if you’re not laughing, you’re crying.”

The production’s goal extends beyond entertainment. By blending humor with vulnerability, Berry and Nassetta aim to create space for conversations about grief — conversations that are often avoided but universally shared.
