Everyone’s getting in on the Austin 3:16 Day celebration, and noted WWE fan LeBron James is no exception.
The Los Angeles Lakers’ star forward posted a photo of himself on Instagram rocking a “Stone Cold” Steve Austin-inspired tee earlier today at the STAPLES Center, the setting for tonight’s game between the Lakers and the Minnesota Timberwolves. He captioned the post with a “Stone Cold” quote and wished everyone a “Happy 3:16.”
The front of the shirt features the words “LeBron 3:16” — a play on The Texas Rattlesnake’s world-famous “Austin 3:16” catchphrase, which became a best-selling T-shirt — while King James’ number 23 adorns the back, in the center of a smoking skull.
This isn’t the NBA All-Star’s first time repping a WWE Legend via cotton blend. In 2016, when James’ Cleveland Cavaliers were down 3-1 in the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors, James was photographed wearing a classic Undertaker shirt to practice. Seemingly channeling The Phenom’s ability to rise from the dead, James led the Cavs to an unprecedented comeback, as they won the series to become the first team in Finals history to overcome a 3-1 deficit.
And while Austin 3:16 Day may be coming to a close, WWE is still celebrating the WWE Hall of Famer all week long with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin Week! Head to WWE Shop to check out limited-time deals on exclusive Austin gear.
