Pete Dunne on U.K. Championship Tournament competitors: “There will be no dreams being made this year”

May 18, 2018

Next month’s WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament will feature the best and brightest competitors in the U.K. and beyond, but WWE U.K. Champion Pete Dunne doesn’t appear to be worried about his title reign being in jeopardy.

Shortly after the final eight tournament participants were announced today, The BruiserWeight weighed in on the competitors in a video on Twitter. The winner of the 16-man tournament, which kicks off at the Download Festival in Derby, U.K., June 8-10, before continuing at London’s Royal Albert Hall on June 18, will earn the right to challenge Dunne for the title in London on June 19.

In his video message, The BruiserWeight made clear that although he respects and has crossed paths with many of the tournament participants, he doesn’t plan on losing his U.K. crown at the Royal Albert Hall.

Dunne has maintained a steady hold on the title since winning it from Tyler Bate at TakeOver: Chicago on May 20, 2017. As he closes in on a full year as champion, The BruiserWeight stands as the second longest-reigning champion in WWE after Universal Champion Brock Lesnar

Will Dunne’s reign make it past his defense against the WWE U.K. Championship Tournament victor next month?
