This weekend’s episode of “Ring of Honor Wrestling” features three of the best matches from 2020:
ROH World Title Three-way Match: Champion PCO vs. RUSH vs. Mark Haskins
(Gateway To Honor, Feb. 29)
RUSH was looking to become a two-time ROH World Champion, while Haskins was seeking his first taste of ROH gold
PCO won the title from RUSH in a wild brawl at Final Battle in December 2019, as he handed “El Toro Blanco” his first pinfall loss in ROH. In the championship rematch the following month, PCO retained the title by disqualification but was left lying by RUSH and the rest of La Faccion Ingobernable.
Haskins, coming off a huge win over Bully Ray in a Street Fight at Final Battle, dedicated himself to winning the ROH World Title in 2020.
Pure Title Tournament Final: Jonathan Gresham vs. Tracy Williams
(“Ring of Honor Wrestling,” Oct. 31)
A 16-man tournament to crown the first Pure Champion in 14 years came down to two men who have built their careers on the art of pure wrestling.
Foundation members Williams and Gresham are both master technicians and submission specialists. Williams won all three of his tournament matches by submission, including the block final against two-time former ROH World Champion Jay Lethal. Two of Gresham’s three victories were via tap-out.
No. 1 Contender’s Battle Royal
(Free Enterprise, Feb. 9)
Twenty competitors battled for a future shot at the ROH World Championship. In addition to the ROH stars in the match, several familiar faces were surprise entrants.
