Quinn McKay is getting a second chance to earn a spot in the ROH Women’s World Title Tournament.
During the latest episode of ROH Week By Week, McKay received a video call from ROH Board of Directors member Maria Kanellis-Bennett, who informed McKay that she will receive a ticket to gold if she defeats The Allure’s Mandy Leon.
The match takes place on Ring of Honor Wrestling the weekend of July 17.
Kanellis-Bennett said she’s giving McKay another opportunity because of the controversial finish to her match against The Allure’s Angelina Love two months ago. That match, which was McKay’s first in ROH, also had the stipulation that McKay would gain entry into the tournament if she won.
McKay had Love in a Cobra Clutch and appeared to be seconds away from pulling the upset before Leon baited her into releasing the hold. After the distraction, McKay turned around
into a Botox Injection from Love and was pinned.
McKay, who vowed afterwards that she wouldn’t make the same mistake again, was overjoyed when Kanellis-Bennett told her about the match against Leon.
“This is the best day of my life, second only to the day in the very near future that I beat Mandy Leon and finally earn my ticket to gold,” McKay said. “All I need is a fair shot, which, honestly, I’m not expecting to get from the likes of The Allure. But that’s really all I need, just one fair shot.”
Leon responded on Twitter to the announcement. Not surprisingly, she was dismissive of McKay’s chances against her.
“If she wants to stay and get her ass beat, she can stay and get her ass beat,” Leon tweeted.
