RAW Tag Team Titles Not Being Defended at WrestleMania?

March 8, 2018

While discussing Jeff Hardy’s return to WWE and potential match between The Bar & The Hardy Boyz at WrestleMania, Dave Meltzer indicated in the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there are no plans at this time for that match to be featured on the card. Meltzer hinted that the RAW Tag Team Championship titles may not even be defended and instead Cesaro & Sheamus may only be featured in an angle of sorts.

..Jeff is almost ready to return and if he can return in time, Sheamus & Cesaro vs. Hardys makes sense as a Mania match given the storyline is no team in WWE is around that deserves a title match. However, that is not the plan as of this moment. Right now the plan is for no match with Sheamus & Cesaro at Mania, but for them to be part of the show in an angle of sorts, but they are part of a lot of things on the Raw side that are still in flux.

It will be interesting to see if the RAW Tag Team Champions are not defended on the biggest show of the year. With several weeks between now and Mania’ this could most-likely change.

UPDATE: Several readers suggested that Meltzer could have been saying that The Hardy Boyz may not be in a match while The Bar is, which seems more likely than the RAW Tag Team Championship titles not being defended on the show. There is some confusion in Meltzer’s wording.
