Here’s a preview of this weekend’s episode of “Ring of Honor Wrestling:”
ROH World Title Match: Champion Bandido vs. Alex Zayne
Zayne made his ROH debut last year in shocking fashion by pinning Bandido. When Zayne made his ROH return at Death Before Dishonor two months ago, the independent standout won the Honor Rumble as a surprise entrant to earn an ROH World Title shot.
Can Zayne shock everyone again by defeating Bandido for the championship?
“I see Bandido wins the world championship and I think to myself, ‘Self, you beat this guy. You beat him in the middle of the ring with the Taco Driver,’” Zayne said. “And I know I can do it again. But this time I’m going to do it for the ROH World Championship.”
Zayne is undefeated in singles matches in ROH, as he also has beaten Andrew Everett and Jake Atlas.
Bandido, who has held the ROH World Title since defeating RUSH for the belt at Best in the World in July, said the outcome will be different when he and Zayne meet this time.
“Zayne, over a year ago you beat me. And I know you’ve learned a lot of new things, but I don’t think that’s going to be enough to beat me this time,” Bandido said. “Now I’m the most wanted champion.”
ROH Pure Title Match: Champion Josh Woods vs. LSG
Woods scored a career-defining victory by ending Jonathan Gresham’s dominant reign as Pure Champion at Death Before Dishonor. Now LSG is looking to score the biggest win of his career by making Woods’ first title defense his last.
This is the first one-on-one meeting between Woods and LSG, who have become close friends during their time together in ROH.
“LSG, I don’t care about how close we are as friends. I don’t care about how great you are in the ring,” Woods said as he looked at the championship belt. “Not today.”
LSG said: “They can teach pro wrestling. But what they can’t teach is passion. It’s love for Ring of Honor. What I’ve had since I was 15 years old. Can you say that about yourself? That is Pure wrestling. And that’s why I, the ‘Ace of Space’ LSG will be your next Ring of Honor Pure Wrestling Champion.”
Woods has won four of his past five Pure rules matches. LSG has had two Pure rules matches in ROH. He defeated World Famous CB and lost by split decision to two-time former ROH World Champion Jay Lethal.
