Here’s a preview of this weekend’s episode of “Ring of Honor Wrestling:”
Dalton Castle vs. Eli Isom vs. Dak Draper
The first time Castle, Isom and Draper were in the ring together, Castle kicked them both low. Strangely, the former ROH World Champion subsequently arranged for the three of them to challenge Shane Taylor Promotions for the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Title at Best in the World.
Not surprisingly, it didn’t go well for the odd trio. Three individuals simply don’t stand much of a chance against a cohesive, dominant unit, no matter how talented those individuals are.
Now Castle, Isom and Draper will be opponents, but will it really be every man for himself? Castle and Draper seem to have at least a tenuous connection, but Isom doesn’t like either of them and they don’t like him. Could this end up being a glorified handicap match?
One thing is certain: This match has implications for the ROH World Television Title division. Isom is currently ranked No. 2, while Castle is No. 5 and Draper is unranked.
PCO vs. Sledge
If you recall, Sledge made it to the final four in the rankings battle royal two months ago before he was eliminated by PCO. Sledge certainly hasn’t forgotten.
“The Metalhead Maniac” had a staredown with PCO during PCO and Danhausen’s tag match at Best in the World. Sledge then petitioned the ROH Board of Directors for a one-on-one match against “The French-Canadian Frankenstein,” and they granted his request.
Sledge is still seeking the first victory of his young ROH career, and a win over the former ROH World Champion would undoubtedly grab the attention of ROH matchmakers and fans alike.
PCO has only been pinned twice since making his ROH debut at the end of 2018. He’s competed mostly in tag matches over the past seven months, with his lone singles bout during that span being a win over Brian Johnson in May.
Flip Gordon vs. World Famous CB
Coming off a loss to EC3 at Best in the World, Gordon is eager to get back to his winning ways and build momentum for his ROH World Title shot against new champion Bandido at Glory By Honor Night 1 in Philadelphia on Aug. 20.
However, Gordon would be wise not to look past CB, who is no one’s steppingstone. CB has victories against Wheeler Yuta, Will Ferrara, Eric Martin and Ryan Mooney over the past few months, and a win over Gordon would arguably be the biggest of his career.
