Here’s a preview of this weekend’s episode of “Ring of Honor Wrestling:”

ROH Women’s World Title Tournament First-Round Matches

Sumie Sakai vs. Rok-C

This compelling matchup pits a 24-year veteran against a 19-year-old “Prodigy.”

When Sakai made history by defeating Simply Luscious in the first-ever women’s match in ROH in June 2002, Rok-C was still five months from being born.

Sakai has done it all in ROH, including winning a tournament in 2018 to crown the first Women of Honor Champion and wrestling in front of a sold-out crowd at Madison Square Garden.

Rok-C, who began training for pro wrestling at 13, has already gotten a taste of championship gold. She won the Diamonds Division Title in Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling promotion last year and held it for 315 days.

Rok-C made such a strong impression in her ROH debut in the spring that she was awarded the first ticket to gold to compete in the tournament by ROH Board of Directors member Maria Kanellis-Bennett.

Mazzerati vs. Nicole Savoy

What the 5-foot-1 Mazzerati lacks in height, she more than makes up for in attitude and swagger.

Mazzerati, who has been wrestling professionally for five years and has a background in martial arts and kickboxing, is in outstanding cardiovascular shape, as evidenced by her ability to trash-talk her opponents non-stop during her matches.

Savoy is not nearly as talkative, but her pro wrestling resume speaks for itself.

Known as “The Queen of Suplexes,” Savoy is a 10-year veteran and held the Shimmer Title for a record 721 days in 2017-2019.

Savoy made her ROH debut in 2019 by defeating Sakai, and she also beat seven-time former world champion Angelina Love last year.

Miranda Alize vs. Alex Gracia

Alize and Gracia are no strangers to one another. Friends outside the ring, they’ve wrestled each other several times over the past couple years.

Alize was one of the first three women to receive a ticket to gold. “The Lucha Baddie” was impressive in both of her Women’s Division Wednesday matches, as she defeated Trish Adora and teamed with Sakai to beat Adora and Mazzerati.

An eight-year pro, Alize has wrestled extensively in Mexico and competed for Stardom in Japan.

Gracia’s road to the tournament wasn’t as smooth as Alize’s, but her perseverance paid off.

After losing a hard-fought match to Willow on Women’s Division Wednesday, Gracia asked for and received a second chance to prove herself. “The Pink Dream” went on to defeat Gia Scott to earn her ticket to gold.

Gracia, who made her pro debut in 2018, also has competed for Stardom and several promotions in Mexico.
