The sixth and final Survival of the Fittest qualifying match pits two competitors with contrasting personas against each other. One is eccentric and entertaining, while the other is pure and professional.
What Danhausen and Rhett Titus have in common is they both have their sights set on winning Survival of the Fittest and earning a shot at the ROH World Championship. They’ll square off on ROH Week By Week, which premieres Tuesday at 1 p.m. Eastern on YouTube.
The winner joins Bandido, Demonic Flamita, Chris Dickinson, Eli Isom and Brian Johnson in the Survival of the Fittest six-way elimination final, which takes place on Ring of Honor Wrestling the weekend of July 3.
Danhausen is still searching for his first victory in 2021, and the lovable fan favorite hinted that he may be willing to get down and dirty to end his skid.
“Danhausen actually has lost every single match since Final Battle. This upsets Danhausen because now his money sack is dwindling,” Danhausen said. “All the money is leaving and we must change this. So perhaps it is time for Danhausen to be a little less nice and a little more evil.”
Danhausen drew a tough draw in Titus, whose recent career resurgence has been one of the biggest stories in ROH.
A current and two-time co-holder of the ROH World Tag Team Title, Titus has been in ROH for 15 years but has never held a singles championship. Defeating Danhausen would move him one step closer to changing that.
Titus won the only previous meeting between the two in January 2020 and he is the only competitor in the tournament with Survival of the Fittest experience. This is his sixth SOTF tournament, and he advanced to the final match in 2010.
“Danhausen, I find you entertaining. I like you. You’re very nice, very evil,” Titus said. “But, Danhausen, you’re stepping in the ring with a pure feakin’ wrestler. And I don’t plan on taking it easy on you, because you’re what’s standing in my way. And when you’re laying there with your makeup smeared all over the mat, just know it’s nothing personal. It’s just my profession.”
