You might remember the near-impossible WCW game on the original Nintendo. You know, the one where you would punch and kick and sometimes get a wrench to use when the match spilled to the outside? As it turns out, that was not the first game to feature Ric Flair, Sting and The Road Warriors in an 8-bit squared circle.

YouTube user Archon1981 discovered “UWC,” developed by Seta in 1989 on a Nintendo review cartridge, meaning the game was near-completion. Featuring Flair, Sting, The Road Warriors and other stars such as Bobby Eaton, the gameplay is similar to the aforementioned WCW game, but will also remind you of the classic game, “Pro Wrestling.”

We can only assume “UWC” stands for “Universal Wrestling Corporation,” which was what WCW was founded as when Ted Turner purchased Jim Crockett Promotions — and, in turn, the rights to World Championship Wrestling — in 1988. That would make this unreleased game the earliest WCW game on record.

Check out the video above to see the game in action.
