Moustache Mountain have withdrawn themselves from the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic due to a knee injury suffered by Tyler Bate, WWE.com has learned.
In an interview with Cathy Kelley, Bate revealed that he had previously tweaked his knee and, as a result, will not be medically cleared to compete for two weeks, dashing Moustache Mountain’s hopes of participating in the tag team tournament honoring the late WWE Hall of Famer.
Bate & Seven had been scheduled to face Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch this Wednesday on NXT in the final First-Round Match of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
In response to the news about Bate’s injury, NXT General Manager William Regal tweeted that he will use this weekend to consider his options for how to handle Moustache Mountain being unable to compete in the tournament.
Unfortunately @Tyler_Bate has suffered an injury that will prevent Moustache Mountain from participating in the #DustyClassic. I will use the weekend to evaluate how we will fill this unfortunate set of circumstances.https://t.co/BYZJiKkFiM
