Sharon Lewis’s directing work has been well received on premium broadcasters such as HBO, NBC, Hulu, Netflix, Amazon, STARZ, FX and every Canadian broadcaster platform. Sharon is well known in the screen industry for her directing flair, distinct cinematic voice, respect with crew, and her ability to inspire award-winning performances from her actors. Sharon’s work has been recognized internationally and includes a Canadian Screen Award for Best Direction of a Factual Series, multiple nominations for Best Director for her feature and documentary film work, and eight Canadian Screen Award nominations as a Showrunner and Director. She can be seen in the Emmy- and NAACP-nominated documentary “How It Feels to Be Free” about iconic African American female entertainers. Sharon honed her directing skills at the prestigious University of California Los Angeles and she went on to direct her award-winning feature film debut “Brown Girl Begins” an Afro-futurist sci-fi tale, which has toured the world, garnering recognition, including a CSA nomination for Best Screenplay. Sharon’s award-winning feature documentaries, Disruptor Conductor, for CBC Docs and With Wonder on CBC Gem highlight stories from the BPOC LGBTQI+ community which continues to be a main focus in Sharon’s work.
At present Sharon is converging all of her experience, storytelling skills and directorial knowledge to fully realize her talent as an exceptional filmmaker. She is also continuing her work through her production company urbansoul inc on developing genre features and scripted TV series, highlighting the stories and talents of black women, south asian women, and the BIPOC 2SLGBTQ+ community.

Synopsis:
“Power Book IV: Force” centers on fan-favorite character Tommy Egan, played by Joseph Sikora, after he cuts ties and puts New York in his rearview mirror for good. As Tommy leaves New York after losing Ghost, LaKeisha and the only city he’s ever known, he makes a quick detour to close an old wound that’s been haunting him for decades. What was supposed to be a quick stop turns into a labyrinth of family secrets and lies Tommy thought were long buried. One step leads to another and Tommy quickly finds himself in Chicago’s drug game, inserting himself between the city’s two biggest crews. In a city divided by race, Tommy straddles the line, ultimately becoming the lynchpin that not only unites them – but holds the POWER to watch them crumble. As the first season unfolds at breakneck speed, Tommy uses his outsider status to his advantage, breaking all the local rules and rewriting them on his quest to become the biggest drug dealer in Chicago.v
