Jay and Mark Briscoe lost the ROH World Tag Team Title to Jay Lethal and Jonathan Gresham at Final Battle last year and never received their championship rematch due to ROH shutting down live events because of the pandemic.
Ever since ROH returned from hiatus, Mark Briscoe has been laser-focused on finally getting a rematch for the belts he and his brother have held a record 11 times. However, Jay Briscoe has been consumed by his personal issue with EC3.
So with Jay already signed to face EC3 in a grudge match at the Final Battle pay-per-view on Dec. 18, Mark recruited former ROH World Champion PCO to team with him against Lethal and Gresham in the tag title match on the show.
Mark and PCO have fought against each other in tag and singles matches, but this will be their first time fighting on the same side.
PCO is no stranger to tag team gold himself. A three-time former WWE Tag Team Champion, PCO teamed with Brody King to win the ROH World Tag Team Title from the Briscoes in a bloody Street Fight at ROH 17th Anniversary last year.
Gresham — who also will defend his Pure Title at Final Battle — and Lethal are on a mission to bring pure wrestling to the forefront, but their title defense against Mark and PCO will not be contested under pure rules, much to the champions’ dismay.
