Here’s a preview of this weekend’s episode of “Ring of Honor Wrestling:”

Pure Rules Match: Rhett Titus vs. Delirious

Titus views his recent membership into The Foundation as a career rebirth and an opportunity to rewrite some of the previous chapters of his career. That’s why he wanted this match against Delirious.

Titus and Delirious have a storied history in ROH that began more than a decade ago. They were tag team partners at one point, but mostly they were bitter rivals.

The rivalry was lopsided, however, as Delirious won all four of their matches against each other. Titus still carries the scars — both the physical and mental ones — from those battles.

“A lot of people think I’d be angry about getting bloodied and scarred up by Delirious, but personally I would like to thank him, because without that it wouldn’t make me the tough person I am today,” Titus said. “Delirious, I want you to bring your best, because I’m going to bring my best and close this chapter once and for all.”

While Delirious always got the better of Titus in their one-on-one encounters, he also has plenty of motivation for this match.

Moments after Delirious defeated Austin Aries in a steel cage match in 2010, Titus, Kenny King and Aries delivered a brutal beatdown to Delirious that ended the masked man’s career as a full-time competitor.

Delirious’ manner of speaking is largely unintelligible, but he was able to get his message across when “talking” about his upcoming meeting with Titus. Delirious conveyed that he has not forgotten what happened 10 years ago and will do what he has always done: beat Titus.

Titus believes he has the advantage because it’s a Pure Rules Match, but Delirious showed in the recent Pure Title Tournament that he can wrestle as well as he can brawl.

Dalton Castle vs. Brian Johnson

If Johnson has proven anything during his ROH tenure it’s that he has the ability to get under the skin of everyone he comes in contact with.

Case in point: After a disappointed Castle was being interviewed backstage by Quinn McKay after his hard-fought loss to Brody King last month, he came across Johnson berating an ROH Dojo trainee. Castle told Johnson to change his attitude, and Johnson responded by telling Castle to mind his own business and tossing a cup of water in the former ROH World Champion’s face.

Castle asked for this match because he wants to beat some respect into Johnson. Coming off back-to-back losses, Castle undoubtedly will be looking to take out his frustration on “The Mecca.”

However, Johnson is no pushover. Despite his despicable demeanor, he’s certainly a capable competitor. A victory over Castle would be the biggest of Johnson’s career and catapult him up the rankings.
