Dead by Daylight Celebrates 10 Years With Its Biggest Roadmap Yet

Ten years after players first entered The Fog, Dead by Daylight is showing no signs of slowing down.

During a massive 10th Anniversary celebration held in Montreal, Behaviour Interactive unveiled one of the most ambitious roadmaps in the game’s history, revealing new Chapters, long-awaited licensed killers, major gameplay additions, visual overhauls, community-driven features, and even updates on the upcoming Dead by Daylight film.

For a game that has already welcomed more than 70 million players worldwide and continues attracting nearly two million daily players, the anniversary event wasn’t just a celebration of the past. It was a statement about the future.

And if the announcements are any indication, Dead by Daylight’s next decade could be even bigger than its first.

Jason Voorhees Finally Arrives in The Fog

After years of speculation and fan demand, one of horror’s most iconic killers is finally joining Dead by Daylight.

Jason Voorhees will officially enter The Fog as part of Dead by Daylight: Jason, launching June 16 across all platforms.

For many fans, Jason’s arrival represents one of the most anticipated collaborations in the game’s history. The Friday the 13th legend has long been viewed as one of the final missing pillars of horror within Dead by Daylight’s ever-growing roster of licensed killers.

Now, after a decade of requests, the hockey mask-wearing slasher is finally ready to hunt survivors inside The Entity’s realm.

The Game’s First Indigenous Survivor Arrives This Month

Behaviour also revealed Dead by Daylight: The Life Road, a brand-new Survivor-focused Chapter introducing Shane Wiigwaas.

The Chapter marks a significant milestone for the franchise as Shane becomes Dead by Daylight’s first Indigenous Survivor.

The Life Road launches June 25 and continues Behaviour’s efforts to expand representation and storytelling within the game’s original character roster.

Art the Clown Brings Terrifier to Dead by Daylight

The horror genre’s newest icon is officially joining the party.

Behaviour confirmed that Terrifier’s Art the Clown will enter Dead by Daylight this November.

Following the explosive success of the Terrifier franchise and Art’s emergence as one of modern horror’s most recognizable villains, the collaboration feels like a natural fit for The Fog.

For horror fans, the addition further reinforces Dead by Daylight’s status as the ultimate crossover destination for the genre.

A Community-Built Chapter Is Coming This Summer

Another major surprise came with the announcement of Dead by Daylight: Chorus of Sin, launching this August.

The Chapter is notable for being the first in franchise history developed entirely in collaboration with the community.

Behaviour has spent years building one of gaming’s most passionate fanbases, and Chorus of Sin represents a unique opportunity for players to directly influence the future of the game they love.

The Casting of Frank Stone Expands Into Dead by Daylight

The Dead by Daylight universe will continue expanding beyond the multiplayer experience.

Behaviour revealed plans for a 2027 Chapter based on The Casting of Frank Stone, the narrative-driven horror title that further explored the mythology surrounding The Entity.

While details remain limited, the announcement signals Behaviour’s commitment to building a connected Dead by Daylight universe that spans multiple games and storytelling formats.

A Massive Visual Overhaul Is Coming

Perhaps the most ambitious reveal of the entire event was Behaviour’s announcement of a comprehensive visual overhaul targeted for 2027.

The update aims to fundamentally modernize the Dead by Daylight experience through enhanced character models, expanded animation systems, realistic facial expressions, upgraded lighting and textures, improved fog effects, and a stronger visual presence from The Entity itself.

For the first time in Dead by Daylight history, dynamic weather systems will also be introduced.

Players can expect environmental effects including light rain, heavy storms, and changing atmospheric conditions designed to make every Trial feel more immersive.

Behaviour also confirmed plans to add voice lines to applicable original characters over time, bringing even more personality and storytelling opportunities to the roster.

New Game Modes Expand the Experience

Dead by Daylight’s future won’t be limited to its traditional 4v1 formula.

The development team shared early details on several new game modes currently in development, including a 1v1 Mode and a Zombie Mode.

While specific gameplay details remain under wraps, both modes signal Behaviour’s willingness to experiment with new ways for players to experience The Fog.

Modding Is Finally Coming to Dead by Daylight

One of the most exciting announcements for longtime players may be the arrival of official modding support.

Behaviour revealed plans to introduce sandboxed modding tools sometime next year, giving players the ability to create and share their own content.

The toolset is expected to support custom maps, gameplay modes, and other creative experiences.

For a game entering its second decade, opening the door to community-generated content could dramatically extend Dead by Daylight’s lifespan while empowering creators in ways never before possible.

The Dead by Daylight Movie Gets a Major Update

Fans also received a long-awaited update on the upcoming Dead by Daylight film adaptation.

Behaviour Executive Vice President Stephen Mulrooney was joined on stage by producer Jason Blum of Blumhouse Atomic Monster to discuss the project.

The team confirmed that the screenplay from Alexandre Aja and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick has been completed.

Additionally, filmmaker Thordur Palsson was officially revealed as the movie’s director and joined the stage to discuss his vision for bringing Dead by Daylight’s world to the big screen.

The update marks one of the most significant developments yet for the highly anticipated adaptation.

Scooby-Doo, Diablo, Iron Maiden and More Join the Fog

Beyond Chapters and gameplay updates, Behaviour also revealed a staggering lineup of upcoming cosmetic collaborations.

The Black Banquet Collection launches alongside this year’s Anniversary Event, while the Sunflesh Collection introduces desert-inspired cosmetics in an upcoming Rift.

Iron Maiden fans can look forward to a special Eddie Legendary Outfit for The Huntress celebrating the band’s 50th anniversary.

Ice Nine Kills also received a dedicated collection alongside the debut of a brand-new Dead by Daylight-themed song and music video performed during the anniversary celebration.

The Walking Dead Collection expands with Glenn and Negan Legendary Outfits, while Silent Hill fans will receive a new Cheryl Mason Legendary Outfit inspired by Shimizu Hinako from SILENT HILL f.

Perhaps the loudest reaction from fans came with the confirmation that Scooby-Doo is finally coming to Dead by Daylight.

After years of requests, Mystery Inc. will officially enter The Fog as part of one of the most anticipated cosmetic collections in franchise history.

Behaviour also revealed a new Diablo Collection arriving this October.

The Next Decade Begins

Dead by Daylight’s 10th Anniversary celebration felt less like a victory lap and more like the beginning of a new chapter.

Jason Voorhees. Art the Clown. Scooby-Doo. Official modding support. Dynamic weather. New game modes. A feature film. Massive visual upgrades.

Few live-service games reach ten years.

Even fewer reach that milestone while simultaneously laying the foundation for another decade of growth.

If Behaviour Interactive’s anniversary showcase proved anything, it’s that The Fog is far from finished expanding.
