Marvel Games and NetEase Games have officially unveiled full details for Marvel Rivals Season 8: SINS OF ALCHEMAX, bringing one of Marvel’s wildest fan-favorite characters into the fight. Launching May 15, the new season introduces Devil Dinosaur as the latest playable Vanguard while also expanding the game with a new Doom Match map, esports updates, gameplay features, and additional cosmetic content.

The arrival of Devil Dinosaur immediately stands out as one of the most unique additions to Marvel Rivals so far. Designed as a frontline Vanguard, the massive prehistoric powerhouse specializes in aggressive close-range combat, utilizing brute force attacks, bleeding damage effects, and defensive shielding to overwhelm opponents. According to NetEase Games, Devil Dinosaur can temporarily clamp enemies in his jaws after inflicting bleed damage, effectively removing opponents from fights while creating chaos on the battlefield.

His Ultimate Ability pushes the destruction even further, transforming him into an unstoppable charging force capable of trampling through enemy lines and disrupting entire team formations. The addition continues Marvel Rivals’ trend of leaning into large-scale, visually chaotic hero abilities that fit the game’s destructible environments and fast-paced team combat.

Season 8 also expands the game’s playable spaces with the upcoming Doom Match map, Alchemax Headquarters, arriving in a May 28 update. The map centers around a mission involving Cyclops and Moon Girl, adding another iconic Marvel location to the growing multiplayer roster.

On the customization side, players can expect a fresh wave of accessories for characters including Devil Dinosaur, The Thing, Black Widow, Angela, Hela, Namor, and The Punisher. NetEase also confirmed that verified college students will gain access to a rotating lineup of 10 exclusive costumes and MVP animations through the game’s College Student Perks program.

The update also includes technical improvements for PC players. The High-Resolution Texture Pack is now being separated into standalone downloadable content, allowing players to free up roughly 35GB of storage space if they choose not to install the optional assets.

Competitive play is also ramping up as Marvel Rivals Ignite officially moves into Stage 1 beginning May 21. The esports competition carries a $650,000 prize pool and will unfold across Group Stages through June 7 before Playoffs begin June 25. Stage 1 competition will additionally introduce the new map New York: Lower Manhattan, bringing new strategic elements into the professional meta.

With Marvel Rivals continuing to evolve into one of Marvel Games’ biggest multiplayer titles, Season 8 appears focused on balancing new character spectacle, quality-of-life improvements, and competitive growth all at once. The addition of Devil Dinosaur alone gives the season one of the game’s most visually distinct heroes yet, while the continued esports investment signals NetEase’s long-term ambitions for the title.
