Fandom is bringing one of San Diego Comic-Con week’s most anticipated parties back to the Gaslamp District, and this year’s headliner is sure to have fans rocking late into the night.

Fandom has officially announced that The Coverups, the high-energy cover band featuring Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, will headline the ninth annual Fandom Party on Thursday, July 23, at FLOAT at the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego. The invite-only event runs from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and once again promises to bring together fans, creators, celebrities, industry leaders, and influencers for one of the biggest celebrations during convention week.

Presented by Xbox’s Halo: Campaign Evolved, this year’s event blends live music with gaming, comics, and immersive fan experiences, continuing the tradition that has made the Fandom Party a staple of San Diego Comic-Con festivities.

Billie Joe Armstrong and The Coverups Take the Stage

Music will once again be at the center of the evening as The Coverups headline this year’s celebration.

Formed in California in 2018, the band features Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong alongside longtime collaborators Jason White, Chris Dugan, and Bill Schneider. Rather than performing Green Day’s catalog, The Coverups have built a reputation for energetic performances celebrating the bands and artists who inspired them.

Fans can expect covers spanning decades of rock history, including songs from legendary acts such as The Ramones, The Clash, David Bowie, The Cure, and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. Their intimate, spontaneous performances have earned the group a loyal following, making them a fitting choice for an event centered around fan culture.

Halo Headlines This Year’s Activations

This year’s presenting partner, Xbox’s Halo: Campaign Evolved, will give attendees an opportunity to experience the next chapter of the iconic franchise before its worldwide launch on July 28.

Guests will be able to step inside a dedicated Halo-themed play zone, go hands-on with the upcoming title, and capture photos inside a custom Halo-inspired photo booth designed to immerse attendees within the legendary sci-fi universe.

For Halo fans attending Comic-Con week, the activation offers an exclusive early opportunity to experience the game before the rest of the world.

More Than a Concert

The Fandom Party has evolved into much more than a concert.

This year’s event will feature several interactive activations designed to celebrate gaming, pop culture, comics, and entertainment throughout the evening.

Suntory Global Spirits will introduce its -196 Freeze Point, inspired by Japan’s convenience store culture, where guests can sample fruit-forward flavors including Lemon, Strawberry, Peach, and Grapefruit while enjoying themed photo opportunities.

Meanwhile, Z2 Comics returns with exclusive merchandise inspired by its upcoming graphic novel and feature film …And Out Comes the Wolf, giving attendees access to limited-edition collectibles available only during the event.

One of Comic-Con Week’s Most Exclusive Events

Over the past nine years, the Fandom Party has become one of the most sought-after invitations during San Diego Comic-Con.

The event has established itself as a celebration where entertainment, gaming, comics, television, and film collide under one roof, creating opportunities for fans and industry professionals alike to connect outside the convention center.

From celebrity appearances and exclusive activations to live performances and surprise moments, the annual party has become a fixture of convention week programming.

Fans hoping to attend are encouraged to keep an eye on Fandom’s social media channels, where details on opportunities to win invitations will be announced ahead of the event.

The Countdown to Comic-Con Begins

With The Coverups leading the entertainment, Halo offering an early hands-on experience, and multiple interactive activations planned throughout the evening, the ninth annual Fandom Party is shaping up to be one of San Diego Comic-Con week’s biggest celebrations.

As thousands of fans descend upon San Diego this July, the annual Fandom Party once again looks ready to celebrate everything that makes fandom special, bringing together gaming, music, comics, and pop culture for one unforgettable night.
