After a record-breaking theatrical run, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is coming home with a loaded physical media release, multiple collectible editions, and an extensive lineup of behind-the-scenes features.
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will arrive on Digital October 6, followed by 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD on December 15. The studio is also offering multiple limited-edition releases for collectors, including a 4K UHD and Blu-ray Steelbook and a premium Collector’s Edition packed with exclusive physical extras.
According to Sony, the Tom Holland-led sequel crossed $1 billion worldwide in six days and has become the highest-grossing film in domestic box office history.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Comes Home
The home entertainment release gives fans several ways to revisit Peter Parker’s latest chapter, with the 4K UHD edition presenting the film in 2160p Ultra High Definition at a 2.39:1 aspect ratio and featuring Dolby Atmos audio.
The Blu-ray edition offers a 1080p presentation with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, while the DVD presents the film in 2.39:1 anamorphic widescreen. The movie has an approximate runtime of 145 minutes and carries a PG-13 rating for sequences of action and violence and some language.
For collectors, however, the headline may be the assortment of limited editions Sony is preparing alongside the standard releases.
Limited Collector’s Edition Goes Beyond the Steelbook
The Spider-Man: Brand New Day 4K UHD + Blu-ray Limited Collector’s Edition Steelbook is positioned as the premium version of the release.
Beyond the Steelbook packaging, the edition includes a magnetic lenticular cover, a premium relic card containing an authentic piece of wardrobe from the film’s production, an exclusive new comic book, collectible art cards, and reproductions of two items tied directly to Peter and MJ: Peter’s handwritten letter to MJ and MJ’s original drawing from the film.
That combination makes the set more than a different case for the same discs. Sony is leaning into tangible production-inspired pieces that connect directly to the emotional story between Peter and MJ, alongside traditional collector items like the comic and art cards.
A separate 4K UHD + Blu-ray Combo Steelbook will also be available for fans who want collectible packaging without the additional memorabilia.
A Packed Collection of Bonus Features
The 4K UHD, Blu-ray and Digital releases include a substantial collection of bonus material covering Tom Holland’s evolution as Spider-Man, director Destin Daniel Cretton’s approach to the film, practical stunts, costume design, hidden Marvel references and the movie’s ensemble cast.
Outtakes: Goofs, Gaffes and Gags collects on-set mistakes and behind-the-scenes moments, while Tom Holland: Evolving Spider explores Holland’s expanding responsibilities in front of and behind the camera.
Brand New Direction focuses on Cretton’s approach to creating a more mature version of Spider-Man and exploring increasingly complicated themes through Peter Parker’s story.
Marvel fans will likely want to dig into Secret Sources and Hidden Spider Eggs, which breaks down references hidden throughout the movie and connections to the broader Marvel universe.
One of the more intriguing extras is Possession!, which explores the practical performances used to bring the film’s villainous mental abilities to life on camera.
Spider-Man and Punisher Get Their Own Featurette
The home release also spends time on one of the film’s biggest character pairings.
Peter and The Punisher brings Tom Holland and Jon Bernthal together to discuss their longtime off-camera relationship and how that friendship helped shape the chemistry between Spider-Man and Frank Castle onscreen.
Another featurette, Live-Action Comics, looks at the production’s efforts to recreate imagery from iconic Spider-Man comic covers and other pieces of the character’s visual history in live action.
Friends and Foes turns the focus toward Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Mark Ruffalo, Jacob Batalon and the larger ensemble, offering a look at the cast’s experience making the film.
Stunts, Costumes and a Reinvented Spider-Suit
For fans interested in the filmmaking itself, Webs, Wires and Runaway Tanks follows stunt coordinator and action choreographer Peng Zhang as he details the practical approach used for the movie’s Spider-Man action.
Scorpions, Ninjas, and the Spider-Suit moves behind the scenes with the costume department, examining the film’s large roster of costumed characters and the process of reinventing Spider-Man’s suit.
The bonus package is rounded out by Lost Memories from Set: Camera Roll, a collection of candid moments captured during production.
The DVD carries a smaller selection of featurettes, including Tom Holland: Evolving Spider, Brand New Direction and Friends and Foes.
Peter Parker Faces a Brand New Life
Spider-Man: Brand New Day finds Peter Parker fighting crime full-time in a world that no longer remembers him. Watching his former friends continue their lives without him begins to change Peter in ways he may not be able to control, just as a powerful new threat emerges with the ability to remain unseen.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, the film stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman and Mark Ruffalo.
