Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is bringing one of the most quotable comedy films of the 2000s back to collectors in a major way. Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby is officially celebrating its 20th anniversary with a brand-new Limited Edition 4K UHD Steelbook arriving August 4.
The anniversary release includes both the original theatrical cut and the extended unrated version of the film fully restored in 4K resolution with Dolby Vision from the original camera negative. Both versions will also feature Dolby Atmos audio, giving fans the definitive home release of the Will Ferrell-led NASCAR comedy classic.
Directed by Adam McKay and written by McKay alongside Ferrell, Talladega Nights became an instant comedy phenomenon upon its release in 2006. The film followed Ricky Bobby, the wildly overconfident NASCAR superstar whose life spirals after flamboyant French driver Jean Girard arrives to challenge his dominance on the track.
Ferrell’s performance as Ricky Bobby helped cement the film as one of the defining comedies of its era, alongside memorable performances from John C. Reilly, Sacha Baron Cohen, Gary Cole, Leslie Bibb, and the late Michael Clarke Duncan.
Two decades later, lines like “If you ain’t first, you’re last” remain deeply embedded in pop culture.
The new release also comes loaded with extensive legacy bonus content spread across multiple Blu-ray discs.
