Tonight’s episode of AEW DYNAMITE was broadcast live from the Indiana Farmers Coliseum in Indianapolis, IN!
Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and “The Human Suplex Machine” Taz were the broadcast team for tonight’s event.
It’s Wednesday night and you know what that means!
The show kicked off with 3x former AEW World Champion Jon Moxley entering the ring!
Jon Moxley: “You know I grew up about 90 miles from here. When I first started I wrestled here all the time in the salvation army gym. That was a long time ago. This has been a crazy ass ride. You never know what’s around the corner. But there are three constants in this world: death, taxes, and Jon Moxley.
“There is nobody that can outwork me, out-hustle me, out-wrestle me, out-bleed me, or out-sweat me. I am at the top of the food chain. I do what I want. I say what I want.
“This AEW ring belongs to me. And you can bet your ass there is not a man in this building that has the balls to come out here to look me in the eyes and tell me any different.”
“Hangman” Adam Page’s music hit! And Hangman marched right toward Jon Moxley in the ring!
Adam Page got right in Moxley’s face and they had a stare down!
Moxley: “You sure you want to do this man, after what happened last time? Oh, I’m sorry, do you not remember last time?”
Hangman decked Moxley with a big right hand! Moxley sent Hangman crashing into the barricades. Security ran down to pry Moxley and Page apart!
Blackpool Combat Club’s “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson
vs.
ROH, IWGP, & AAA World Tag Team Champion Dax Harwood of FTR (with Cash Wheeler)!
Danielson took Dax down with a side headlock takeover. Dax countered with a front headlock. Danielson went for a big high kick but Dax ducked it.
Dax was looking for the sharpshooter but Danielson grabbed the ropes to force the break. Dax stomped the side of Bryan’s head. Dax and Bryan traded chops. Dax jumped off the turnbuckles with a crossbody press for a near fall. Dax was flipped over the top rope and Danielson rocketed at him with a tope suicida, knocking Dax over the guardrail into the front row of fans!
Harwood went for a piledriver but Danielson blocked it with a backdrop. Danielson missed a round kick and Dax spiked Danielson for a near fall. Dax missed a diving headbutt from the top and Danielson rolled up Dax for a two-count. Danielson rocked Dax with a diving knee strike to the arena floor.
Dax pulled Danielson onto the top turnbuckle but Danielson slid out and shoved Dax, with Dax crotching himself on the top turnbuckle. Danielson followed up with hammer and anvil elbows. Danielson suplexed Dax off the top turnbuckle but Dax switched so Dax’s body landed on top.
Danielson and Harwood traded shots in the center of the ring! Dax clocked Bryan with a lariat but Bryan followed up with a clubbing shot of his own!
The fans chanted “This is awesome! This is awesome! This is awesome!”
Danielson went for the kick but Harwood intercepted. Dax attempted the slingshot powerbomb but Danielson escaped by countering with a hurracanrana. Danielson blasted Dax with roundhouse kicks. Dax countered Bryan’s running knee strike with a slingshot Liger Bomb! After countering one another’s cradle pin attempts, Danielson put Dax in the LeBell Lock and Dax was forced to tap out!
“That was a hell of a match by these two men,” said Taz.
Tony Schiavone was backstage with “Absolute” Ricky Starks!
Starks: “I would like to make an announcement. I’m entering myself into the battle royal that will take place next week and I’m going to win it. Because I’m coming for everything you have, Max. I’m coming for your spot. Everything that you have, guess what, I am owed that as well.”
Cameras caught up with “Hangman” Page and Jon Moxley, and they were still brawling backstage!
Renee Paquette was live via satellite in Nashville with The Jericho Appreciation Society and Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta.
Claudio: “I need to beat Jericho at Final Battle!”
Wheeler Yuta: “At Final Battle, put your Pure Title on the line, Garcia!”
Garcia: “Ok!”
TNT Championship Open Challenge Match!
TNT & ROH World TV Champion Samoa Joe vs. AR Fox!
Samoa Joe cornered AR Fox and boxed him into the turnbuckle with jabs. Joe headbutted AR Fox. Samoa Joe moved in for a clothesline but AR Fox ducked it. Fox pump kicked Samoa Joe outside the ring.
Back in the ring, Samoa Joe squashed AR Fox with a sit out senton. Samoa Joe drove Fox to the mat with a side slam for a near fall. Joe met AR Fox on the top turnbuckle but Fox shoved him down and nailed Samoa Joe with a DDT and then a short cutter! Fox smashed Joe with a 450 splash for a near fall!
AR Fox jumped off the top rope but Samoa Joe walked out of the way. Samoa Joe landed the muscle buster on AR Fox and then pinned Fox.
“Fox put up a hell of a fight,” said Taz.
Samoa Joe: “Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to welcome you to a new and glorious era. For I am the one true king of television.”
Wardlow appeared on the screen!
Wardlow: “I hope you enjoy playing the role, because I’m coming for what’s mine! This is Wardlow’s world!”
William Regal walked down to the ring!
Regal: “Ladies and gentlemen, your new AEW World Champion, Maxwell Jacob Friedman!”
AEW World Champion MJF came to the ring!
MJF hugged Regal in the ring.
MJF: “I know you people aren’t very bright, but when the best wrestler on God’s green earth is holding the microphone, you keep your hillbilly mouths shut. I’d like to tell you all how our unholy union came to be. Right after the Firm attacked me, Regal sent me an email.
“It said, ‘Maxwell, I see the potential in you to become the greatest villain ever. This time don’t grab the Dynamite ring, you must grab the brass ring.’ We met behind closed doors and I can say this man is a genius. He told me to use the brass knux. He didn’t just want me to beat Jon Moxley, he wanted me to leave Moxley with an emotional scar so he wouldn’t forget the day he was outsmarted by MJF.
“Now let’s talk about the Firm. I kind of respect the Firm. They saw a weakness in me and like sharks smelling blood in the water, they attacked. I would have done the same thing. Even if I harbored resent, I wouldn’t go after them because it takes effort. I’m above that.
“Speaking of things I’m above, let’s talk about this belt. When I became the AEW World Champion, I promised I would make changes around here. Out with the old and in with the new. When I look at this title, I see something that needs an upgrade. It’s tacky, it’s ugly. And it reminds me of the people who held this belt before me.
“This version of the title, much like all of you, is garbage. Mr. Regal, if you’d be so kind.”
MJF threw the belt down and Regal unveiled a new AEW Championship Title.
MJF: “Let me introduce to you the triple B, the Big Burberry Belt. This is now the most important, most prestigious title in all of professional wrestling, and all because I’m the man holding it. No one, and I mean no one, deserves to be recognized as world champion, except for me. Not any of the pieces of trash you guys push for, not fake tough guys like Eddie Kingston, fake tough guys like Ricky Starks, and the worst of the worst, fake wrestlers like Bryan Danielson.
“No offense, in comparison to me, Bryan Danielson couldn’t wrestle his way out of a paper bag. Mr. Regal, you tried everything you could, but some people can’t be helped.
“Speaking of people who can’t be helped, here is a message for everybody on my show. As long as I am in this company, you will never know what it’s like to be on top, all the way until the bidding war of 2024, when I will use Triple B as a bargaining chip!
“If I’m being completely transparent, come January 2024, I don’t even know if a wrestling company wins the war. Because I’m getting sick of looking at wrestling fans on a weekly basis. Maybe Hollywood wins. But I’m not deaf. I know there is an interesting amount of you who were over the moon when I became champion.
“But just call me Mystic Max because I predict you people are fickle, because soon enough you’ll say I’m boring, I never wrestle, I always talk, he constantly makes his opponents jump through hoops. And to those people I say great. But you people will tune in every week.
“Triple B will be defended very rarely, and I will wrestle very rarely, because I am a special attraction. To see my wrestle, nine times out of ten, you’ll have to reach into your pockets and pay your money for a pay-per-view.
“Ladies and gentlemen, you are now in the era of MJF! Oh, I almost forgot. Mr. Regal, I wanted to say, without these brass knux, none of this is possible. For 40 years, you’ve given blood, sweat and tears for this business. And that’s why I want to say, from the bottom of my heart—”
MJF blindsided Regal, clocking him with the brass knuckles from behind!
MJF: “You said I had much to learn, but you made a deal with the devil.”
Bryan Danielson sprinted to the ring to check on William Regal.
William Regal was stretchered out of the ring.
“Absolute” Ricky Starks vs. The Truthbusters’ Ari Daivari!
Stokely Hathaway and “All Ego” Ethan Page came out before the match. They sent Matt Hardy to the back, and Page told Starks that Page was going to win at Winter Is Coming.
Ari ambushed Starks but Starks retaliated with the Roshambo and pinned Ari Daivari.
Willow Nightingale vs. Jericho Appreciation Society’s Anna Jay A.S.!
Willow knocked down Anna Jay with a shoulder tackle. She followed up with a short arm lariat. Willow used a low cross body press for a near fall on Anna Jay.
Tay Melo was in the corner trying to motivate Anna Jay A.S.
Anna kicked Willow in the back. Anna Jay fired back with a flipping neck breaker. Anna locked in the Queen Slayer but Willow slammed backwards to counter it. Tay Melo jumped on the apron to distract Willow.
Anna grabbed Willow and rolled her up for a near fall. Willow clocked Anna with a lariat and then finished Anna off with the Doctor Bomb for the pin!
Ruby Soho’s music played and Ruby appeared in the ring behind Tay! Ruby and Tay began to brawl but Tay got rocked with a headbutt from Ruby. Ruby smashed Tay with the Destination Unknown on the ramp!
“What a return for Ruby Soho,” said Excalibur.
Backstage, QT Marshall challenged All-Atlantic Champion Orange Cassidy to a lumberjack match on Rampage this Friday, and Orange agreed!
Next it was time for the TBS Championship Celebration with champ Jade Cargill & The Baddies—Red Velvet & Leila Grey!
Jade said she was done playing games with the Baddies.
Jade: “Either you two get in line or you can step. Because you two are eating off of me. And this entire company is eating off of me. I am the brightest star this company has. Nobody has my body, my face, my aura.
“I am the real deal. I am nothing but real. I create careers. And Lil’ Bow Wow is a joke. A total joke.”
Bow Wow appeared on the screen and he was still fixated with Jade!
Main Event Time!
AEW World Trios Championship Best Of 7 Series!
Death Triangle (c.)—Rey Fenix, Penta El Zero Miedo, & “The Bastard” PAC
vs.
The Elite—Kenny Omega, & The Young Bucks—Nick & Matt Jackson (with Don Callis, Michael Nakazawa, and Brandon Cutler)!
Death Triangle start the night ahead in the series 2-0.
The Elite charged up the ramp as Death Triangle tried to make their entrance!
Matt Jackson backdropped Penta El Zero Miedo on the ramp. Omega took down PAC, landing hard on his hip.
The Bucks held PAC at the bottom of the ramp. Omega sprinted down for the V-Trigger but PAC countered it with a thrust kick! The Bucks were wiped out by cutters from the Lucha Bros!
The match officially began. The Bucks powerbombed the Lucha Bros on the ring apron! Matt Jackson accidentally took out ref Rick Knox with a dive. Penta El Zero Miedo flipped over the top rope and crashed onto the Elite! Penta El Zero Miedo had the hammer from PAC. Rey Fenix grabbed the hammer but Kenny Omega charged in with the V-Trigger, blasting Fenix.
Omega powerbombed Penta El Zero Miedo. Death Triangle fired back on all cylinders with thrust kicks to the Elite. Penta El Zero Miedo spiked Omega with the Fear Factor for a near fall!
“A nail-biter indeed,” said Excalibur.
The Bucks and the Lucha Bros traded kicks in the ring. Matt Jackson suplexed the Lucha Bros by himself. PAC charged at Kenny with a running boot. Omega and PAC did battle on the ropes. PAC used his mask to headbutt Omega. PAC nailed Omega with an avalanche falcon arrow for a near fall!
Nick landed a superkick on Rey Fenix and then a cutter for a near fall. The Bucks were about to go for the Meltzer Driver but Rey escaped. Instead the Bucks managed to hit More Bang For Your Buck but Penta El Zero Miedo was there to break up the pin.
The Bucks grabbed Rey Fenix for the BTE Trigger but PAC and Penta broke it up with thrust kicks. Kenny Omega ate a cutter from Rey Fenix! The Lucha Bros hit the Fear Factor on Matt Jackson! PAC charged in and smashed Matt with a brainbuster for a near fall!
“The fans are standing everywhere. They’re not sitting down,” said Tony Schiavone.
PAC went for the Black Arrow finisher but Matt raised his knees into PAC’s face and managed to pin PAC!
The next match in the series will take place in two weeks at DYNAMITE: Winter Is Coming!
